On tap @Birrifugio Trastevere (Rome). Bruna intensa, schiuma beige media. Al naso cioccolata, caffè, leggera liquirizia. In bocca non è molto equilibrata, e anche un po' spigolosa, caffè, cioccolata. Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione soft. Non un granché.

Cask @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thick creamy-frothy off-white head. Easy enough strength but its thicker tasting chocolate taste helps give it a fuller body feel. A tad more floral in aroma.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Waitrose. Pours clear, deep copper with a small, creamy off-white head. Medium sweet flavour with rich malty character, a little British yeast, caramel, berries, mild earthy-leafy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Luscious toasted malt character, more caramel, bitter earth, faint pine. Delightful ale!

Cask at the Justice Mill, Aberdeen. It pours darkest brown to black with a beige head. The aroma is soft, smooth roasted malt, mellow, milk chocolate, coffee with cream and earthy roast. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, roasted malt, creaminess, milk chocolate, touch of tannin, coffee with cream, coffee grains, earthy, touch of nuttiness and burnt toast with a toasty coffee finish. Average carbonation and soft carbonation. Not bad, perhaps a bit earthy.
