375ml bottle share thanks to Steve. Back to reality after the Cassian Sunset. Rather pedestrian RIS with enough minor notes from the bourbon and maple to make it interesting. But not enough to push it into exceptional. Finishes with a lingering odd metallic taste.

Bottle shared at Sander stag. Pours hazy dark gold with a frothy, off-white head. Somewhat malty in the nose, with rindy orange, lightly faded pine. Medium sweet flavour with notes of grainy bread, caramel, citrus gummies. Full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming in the finish, pretty sweet, with mild toasted caramel, more citrus candies, bready sugars. So so.

Tasting at Matt’s
Cloudy amber color, small head. Strange aroma, soapy (the ginger), citrusy, a bit herbal (heather), light vanilla cookies. Caramelly flavor, moderately sweet, with a strong body; the ginger is moderate, but doesn’t add anything; earthy.
Weird idea, the result is not very good.

Bottle - Lots of herbal ginger notes with lemon. Cloudy copper with a small white head. Ginger and big bitter and almost boozy notes. Not good.

750mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours an opaque murky amber orange with a small white head. Aroma is bizarre, with lots of earthy ginger root upfront, followed by lemon and light hop resins buried underneath. Flavour is the same, with earthy ginger root upfront, with only a touch of lemon and zero sweetness. Extremely earthy and rather confused. Undercarbonated. Hard to see what they were going for here. Not pleasant.

375ml bottle shared by Chalumeaux. Thanks TJ. Pours nearly black with a weak head. Aroma is dark chocolate, maple sugar, hint of smoke.
The flavor is bad. The sip shows light oak upfront with red wine notes thought the center. It finished on sweaty, dirty socks and bad bacteria. Notes of wet green oak. Gross. Total drain pour.

Poured from bottle dark cola pour with a mocha head. Aromas of roasted malt bacteria and toe jam. Tastes like an infected mess. Was looking forward to this. --- Beer merged from original tick of Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout on 11 Jun 2016 at 18:45 - Score: 3. Original review text: Sad. An infected mess.
