2004. Poured a deep red with minimal tan head. A sweet aroma of caramel and fruit with malt and alcohol along for the ride. The mouth is thick with light carbonation and a warming alcohol finish. Flavor of caramel and malts with a light citrus background along with a rather alcoholic finish. A delicious barley wine that will most certanly get even better with age.

Bottle. Slightly sour peach/apple and moderate hops aroma. Reddish amber with small head. Slight sweet fruity flavor that is well blended with the hops finish - neither one comes out too strong. One of the best Brooklyn styles I’ve tried.

Bottle. Very spicy aroma - cinnamon, clove, nutmeg. Clear dark brown color with small head. Strong sweet clove flavor with lesser amount of cinnamon. Mild bitter finish. Very spicy.

Bottle. Sweet peach and hops aroma. Reddish amber with small head. Sweet apple juice with strong alcohol/hops finish which tends to overwhelm any other flavor. Will let the other bottle age some as this one was not too spectacular. Okay, I aged this about 15 months, let’s see what it did. Still pretty sweet but seems to have more of a sherry and oak aroma. Cloudy orange amber color with small but persistant head. Nice taste - so much smoother - peach/sherry flavor - slightly metallic but much mellower hops flavor. Nice palate. Infinitely better that it was fresh. Definitely a cellaring beer.

Bottle. Molasses, cocoa and acetone aroma. Opaque black brown color with nice tan head. Dark chocolate flavor initial that is quickly overwhelmed by a strong bitter/astringent medicinal finish. I even opened another bottle to check - maybe I got two bad ones because I did not enjoy this beer - I strongly suspect somehow I got bottles infected with bleach - have to try again someday.

poured dark enough to hold up to a lamp and not be able to see through. Its pretty much motor oil. Small amount of brown head that remained around the glass untill the end. Aroma is sweet chocolate and malt. tastes of chocolate (obviously) and is mildly fruity. Has plenty of bitterness in the aftertase as well. Very strong flavor overall. Delicious.

12 oz winter 2005-6. Pours like motor oil -- nice big brown head that leaves lacing. Very sweet chocolate nose with a bitter tingle. Light, creamy and very sweet with medium lasting chocolate finish. Will cellar and re-rate.
