[Draft at BJ’s in Boulder, Colorado] A clear light yellow beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty with some sour citrus notes. The flavor is malty - but in a weird way and citrus sour, with a dry boring aftertaste from a boring hop sort.

Very dark brown. Very sweet with loads of licorice and some chocolate. Intensely salty. Raw and really unbalanced. It feels like they’ve just dumped all they had into the mash and hoped that would make a great beer.

Nut brown. Roasty, lemony and sweet with very cleanmouthfeel. Fizzy lightly smokey and somewhat nutty. Perfectly similar to a fizzier Newkie Brown. That’s what they were shooting for, wasn’t it?

Dark amber. Lightly roasty with loads of caramel. Clean, rounded mouthfeel, yet with interesting malt character that includes salty butter and toffee. A punch of alcohol is rounded of by a long finish with medium bitterness.

Deep golden. Big, flowery grapefruity hop aroma. Clean malt profile. Lingering bitter finish. Stylish, and completely dominated by hops.

Cloudy yellow/orange. Sweet and lightly estery, medium bodied. There’s some paper and banana, but it lacks soul.

On tap at B.J.’s Portland, sampled 6 August 2004. Standard fare across the board- clear copper red body, thin creamy off-white head, grapefruity, bitter, piney aroma, and the subsequent intense grapefruit citrus flavor enhanced by pine and a touch of sweet malt. Not much balance, so this beer tastes like any other beer that uses the same quantity and variety of hops.
