Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Amber with a loose white head; earthy, grainy aroma; sour grain taste with some appley fruit; then a dry biscuity finish. Quite satisfying, but a rather basic bitter.

On the train from Hereford to Inverness, bottle thanks to SP, 18/10/13. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin light tan covering. Nose is light roast, hint of cocoa, dark toffee fudge, earthy, brown sugars. Taste comprises cocoa, toffee fudge, earthy roastness. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, lgiht roast in the finish. A pretty basic porter - whelming!

Cask @ Slightly hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is malt, green apples, fruit and yeast. Flavour is malt, grainy, yeast, brew errors, sulfur, little sweet and a little bitter.

Cask at The White Bear, Tewkesbury, Saturday 21st September 2013 Pours gorgeous gold with bubbly white head. Aroma is light malty and fresh. Safe, mid bitter golden ale, likeable, in superb condition, just thoroughly decent. A6 A5 T6 P3 Ov14 3.4

Hand-pulled pint by a young lady in one of the shortest skirts I’ve seen for a long time: Penny Blacks, Birmingham: 30 Aug 2013. Sadly the pulling of the pint was the most exciting bit of the beer: I found it lightweight and bland to be honest. I’ve enjoyed beers from this brewery many times before, this let them down Looked OK, golden and clean with a pure white head. Slightly more malts in the nose and taste: mildly roasted biscuit feel with a semi-citrus hop undertone throughout. Nothing stood out, nothing to upset or test your senses, just a blend for the masses. Disappointed more than anything else, just lacks character and some oomph.

Cask at Pennyblacks, Birmingham. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head and lots of lace. The aroma is dry slightly stale malts leading to a medium bitter, hoppy flavour and a smooth refreshing finish.

Cask at the Happy Man, Englefield Green, 18/06/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is malt, bread dough, citrus, light hops. Tate comprises summer fruits, orange peel, touch of caramel, light biscuit, bread. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, bitter notes in the finish. An adequate well balanced bitter.

Cask handpull at the Grape and Grain- Crystal Palace Spring Beer Festival, 2013. Dark brown pour with a reddish tint and a diminishing beige head. Dark fruit and raisin aroma. Flavours of prunes, raisins, toffee and licorice. Bitter-roast finish.
