Pours deep gold into a shaker. White head with excellent retention recedes to skim surface. Cracked corn and malt aromas. Soft with sour caramel and bitter earth front to back. Lasting resin finish.

From tap at Barcade Brooklyn. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off white head. Grassy, straw and toasted malty. Bitter, toasted malty. Breadish and dry roasted malty. Slight caramelish to breadish. Bitterand toasted dark malty finish.

On tap @ Barcade. A blurry deep golden one with a small lasting off-white head. Smells mild hopped. Some ripe fruits and a little bit of crackers. Decent, nothing more. Easy to drink. Its mild oily in the mouth and below average on the carbonation. Not a horrible tasting lager this actually. More vienna like IMO. Biscuity in a way, a little sweetness. Kinda floral in the taste. Its nothing Im gonna remember for too long for the flavor, but Ill definitely remember it due to the time I went to Barcade in NYC. 19.06.2015

Poured into a pilsener glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a two finger off white foamy head that sat atop for a little bit and then gently slid off. Spotty lace.
The aroma had some dark roasted malts, light bitter chocolate nibs, toast, some dark bread, some woody dryness and a little bit of earthiness.
The flavor leaned towards the roastiness at first and gently allowed some sweet to bitter chocolate portions. Finely tuned roastiness rolled into the aftertaste and on into the finish.
The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, I somewhat liked this for me, but also missed the German yeastiness I normally get in this style. Maybe again for me, though. Schwarzbier fans, don’t get your hopes up with this one.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a semi-transparent copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that stiffened a bit and then slid off at a decent pace.
The aroma had some citrusy/piney bitter to sweet blend over top of some biscuit and white bread. Leaned more towards orange pulpy sweetness as it warmed.
The flavor took the prior mentioned aromas to blend fairly nice and add in a little bit of white pepper. Mild aftertaste of the orange pulp, bread and pine. Finish seemed to be closer to the orange pulpy sweetness.
The palate was almost medium bodied, seemed to be just a tad under. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, I didn’t mind this one, maybe perhaps one of those \"old school DIPA’s\" which I’m guessing will probably be considered a true style within the next couple of years just to imbalance the upset of this new \"New England style DIPA\" or something of the sort.

Clear, brassy-golden, with a good-sized white head atop showing moderate to moderately strong retention.
Strong vegetal, leafy, citrus/pine-forward hops in the nose backed by a bit of sourdough and biscuit. Lots of dry, orange marmalade and not so much resinous as it is peppery and heavily given to citrus rind astringency. Not boozy, though and seemingly well-attenuated.
Bitter with just too much stewed hop character and a somewhat hard texture, despite it at least being rather dry. Honey, bread and biscuit with strong orange rind, heavy pine (though again, fairly resin-free) and peppery carbonation. A rather outdated IPA and it’s just hard to enjoy these, especially during a night filled with Tree House and Trillium....

Deep super dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head that fades very fast. Aroma of squash, light spices, licorice, molasses, alcohol, earth, hazlenuts and a good deal of caramelised sugars. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich earthy and malty flavour with a good bit of squash, anise, molasses, raisins, figs and a peat-y flavour that shows well near the end. Aftertaste is rich with complexity showing the sugars, spices, body (from the squash) and pungent near the end, from the alcohol. Overall, a rich and exciting beer - just about perfect for the style and the name - it’s exactly what you’d expect to be getting, and done in a can - very nice! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Bowery), New York on 27-May-2016 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington on Halloween, 31-October-2016 after just trick-or-treating with my daughters.

Pours ruby-tinged clear mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Resin and orange aromas. Thick with hot caramel and sour overripe hot peach turning to bitter pits and peel in the lasting finish.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Julio’s Liquors. Appearance is cloudy light brown/dark orange with obvious dark brown floaters, fair sparkle and finger-width foamy beige head with good retention and sticky lacing. Aroma is citrusy, pine, over fruit and malt base. Taste is earthy mix of malt and fruit with bitter pine and citrus. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and bitter finish. Overall, more of a mix of hops and malts than a lot of varieties. OK but not special.
