Cask at GBBF 08. Reddish brown with lasting beige head. Fruity IPA, with a hoppy aroma. Maybe a bit thin in the mouth, lacks oomph, body and depth. OK leafy hop. Quite watery actually. Some peachy apricot fruit.

Beige head and a normal lookin’ IPA body. Thick fruity aroma. Not all that hoppy for an IPA. Tastes almost like tea at times, which might be my mouth’s interpretation of dryness. Medium bodied. Almost bubblegum like with other sips. Rather fruity overall. Strange, but not too bad.

Cloudy reddish-amber colour. Woody hop nose with lots of earthy, caramelly maltiness. Lightly bitter, heartily earthy palate with a hint of portobello. Off-dry finish with a splash of crystal malt.

Bright orange-amber. Very toasty aroma, some crackers and caramel. Fresh, toasty, with lots of fruity, spicy notes. Somewhat caramelly. I’m surprised, this is good.

Aromas of hop and malt. Hazy mahogany color with a 3 or 4 finger head. Sweet citrus hop? Or caramel with hop? Really tasty. Medium bodied with creamy carbonation. The hop dominates, and the finish is bitter. It’s really great. 64 IBUs? Seems like more. Just good ale.

Thanks to JoeMcPhee for sharing this with me at Barcade. Color is clear orange with a small head. Aroma is all hoppy; sweet and green with faint cat pee. Taste is a bit sticky sweet from the hops and some other cheap sugars. Bitterness is hidden by the sweetness but too much of a trade off. Thick and sticky mouthfeel as well.
Pint pour @ Barcade.

This pours as an amber/orange bodied brew that throws up a creamy, off-white, long lasting head. Some fruitiness in the aroma despite it being a lager. Good malt/hop balance and presence. Decent body, some dryness comes in at the finish. I could drink another one.

-@ Brazen Head on cask-pours a light tan head and black color. Aroma is pumpkin, dark/medium malt-chocolate, spices. Taste is pumpkin, dark/medium malt-chocolate, spices, some (cascade?) hops bite, some alcohol. Occasional. OK carbonation.

Draught pint at Sunset Grill on 10/6/07
Deep coal black with perhaps a touch of deep auburn-mahogany. Dark beige head is small and fizzles to nothing, leaving no lacing. Medium-low clarity.
Sharp spice shoots up the nostrils, definitely some cinnamon-nutmeg and quite dry. It recovers with some light caramel and cookie dough-like sugars, but only briefly, before a very ashen black malt astringency shuts off any sweetness and really kills the aroma. Some pumpkin notes trickle through, with more spices, but there isn’t anywhere near enough beer flavor. Not overdone on spices, other than up front, and not overdone on pumpkin either, but just because things arent overdone, as I always say, dosent mean they’re particularly good. I don’t find much else here. Some chocolate comes through with warming, but it’s way too much dark malt. No flaws or alcohol.
Somewhat better in the flavor, with some soft slippery textures and lightly sweet choco-caramel. Spices are quite pronounced though, and hang on the finish, dulling the beer character. Very ashy, and char-like, with little pumpkin character. Just not enough malt suppleness for a stout. Traces of vanilla, light smoke and ash linger. No alcohol or flaws.
Looks like the bottles are MUCH better.
