Bottle from Johnny's Off Licence, Rome. Pours cloudy pale brown with a small short lasting off-white head. Aroma of plum, banana, fruits, bread, yeast, malt, caramel and alcohol. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium plus body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Bitter, fruity finish, Easy drinker.

Dec. ’16. On tap at Birra+, Rome. Chalkboard claimed 8.8% ABV. It poured a hazy darker copper-brown body with medium sized lightly yellow head. Lots of caramel in aroma, some nuts, lightly stale and grainy like hay and bread. Flavor was lightly to moderately sweet, with caramel, cocoa, biscuit and wood like mahogany. Medium to full body with alcohol notable but well handled for the style. Longer sweet malty and warming finish. Quite balanced doppelbock, with cocoa as a pleasantly peculiar addition. Good job Mukkeller once again!

Dec. ’16. On tap at Birra+, Rome (5.0% ABV) It poured a bit hazy golden body with a medium sized head. Aroma was malty and grainy, true to keller style, hay, bread, light biscuit and cooked fruits. Flavor was lightly sweet, fruity, with distinct spicy hops playing with honey and raw grain notes. Bitterness prevailed towards the finish which was long and pleasant, both fruity, honey and pepper hoppy. Medium to full bodied, oily on palate. A very well evaluated modern crafty rendition of a kellerbier.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Ambrata scarica, torbida, schiuma media molto persistente. Al naso sentori di caramello, miele di acacia, limone, leggeri esteri. In bocca è equilibrata ma un po' slegata, dolce all'attacco con finale amaro, anche un po' astringente. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Da rivedere.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Ambrata, limpida, schiuma bianca media, molto persistente. Al naso straordinario bouquet di frutta, note di pesca, mandarino, pompelmo, malto. In bocca è perfettamente equilibrata, base di malto presente ma non fastidiosa, finale amaro lungo e deciso, mai eccessivo, alcol ottimamente nascosto. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Un po' old style, ma fatta veramente bene! Complimenti!

Tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Reddish amber clear, tick off-white cap. Nose is malty English way with noble hops. Mouth is malty and moderately bitter.

Dec. ’16. On tap at Luppolo Station, with Roman ratebeer crew. It poured almost a clear brown body with a big off white head. Aroma of roasted malt like coffee, cocoa, toasty as well (caramel, toffee) with light hops. Herbal bitter flavor, hop driven, with fine malt background, toasted to roasted just as aroma indicated. A bit fruity additionally. Medium bodied with longer, coffee and herbal bitter finish. Quite an interesting hoppy stout, more complex than most of these. No flaws in my batch.
