Established in 1869
Extensive modernization took place from 1933 to 1937 lead by masterbrewer Josef Paspa. The fermentation rooms with cooling vessels and large wooden barrels were replaced with modern steel tanks. In 1933, thanks to its volume of 800,000 hl of produced beer, the brewery became the biggest brewery in Czechoslovakia.
With socialism after the Second World War Staropramen was nationalised. After socialism ended in 1989, the brewery, along with the Braník and Měšťan breweries, became in 1992 part of the Prague Breweries group (Pražské Pivovary), which by 1996 came under control of the Bass company. Bass brought Ostravar into the group in 1997, then in 2000 sold its brewing operations to Interbrew, later AB InBev. In April 2012, Staropramen was bought by Molson Coors

0.5 l bottle. Pours a nice, hazy golden (peach) color with dissapeearing head. Fruits and wheats in aroma but the taste is not as significant as foreshadowed. Bitter with hints of fruits. Long, bitter finishing. Drinkable.

0.5 l bottle. Dark ruby color. Sweetish, yeasty aroma and taste. Way too sweet for my liking.

A nagyuzemi jelleget nem tudja levetkozni, es az ugyanaznap kostolt Budvar harmincharmashoz kepest pl azert eleg halovany, de alapvetoennagyobb baja nincsen.
RB score 2.85

Bottle. Actually tasteless in an almost nice way. Definitely among the better macros due to lack of any big off-flavours, mostly clean. Light honeyish and grainy husky maltiness, overexctracted for sure, but not in a tragic way. Med-light bitterness, low sweetness, dry. Background hops. Light oxidation. Drinkable.

Canned. Pours clear golden with white head. Mediocre pilsner, not too bad but nothing peculiar either. Light bodied, softly carbonated, easily drinkable.

Canned. Nothing much is going on here: a simple thin and watery dunkel. Drinkable tho.

Can. Clear golden with huge, long lasting head. Drinkable enough svetly, if it weren’t for the unfortunate metallic notes, it’d be even better.

Clear amber. Caramel, candy and green apple aroma. Lightly bready and caramel flavour. Thin, soft carbonation, abrupt finish.

Klare goldene Farbe; gemischtporige, mäßig stabile Schaumkrone; in der Nase kräutriger und grasiger Hopfen, dahinter helles Malz; im Geschmack hopfenbetont, kräutrig, helles Malz, leichte Süße, mittlere Bittere. Insgesamt solide.
