BIAB Sample from the 29th Sussex Beer & Cider Festival Brighton, courtesy of Grumbo. Many thanks Graham! Orange golden colour, no head and aroma of funky apple. Taste is sweetish, mellow apple, some fruity pear, slight notes of barnyard funk, then bittersweet, with tannins and boozy hints. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, medium dry tannic finish. Quite drinkable.

Bag in Box at 21st South Downs Beer Fest. It pours clear golden - amber without a head. The aroma is earthy, juicy, tangy, sherbet, sweet apple pie, barnyard, manure, cinnamon and wood. The taste is bitter - sweet, tangy, apple pie, earthy, musty, funky, earth, manure, candy, tannin, apple skin and black tea with a drying finish. Medium body and soft, foamy mouth - feel. Sweet yet very barnyardy. Perhaps too much manure. Lorna likens it to slurry on a field! Not quite sold on it.

Plastic barrel@GBBF2011 (thanks harrisoni!). Golden colour, small head. Aroma is apples, mild acidic notes as well as some slight earthyness. Flaour is apples, quite dry and sour with some mild vanillaish notes as well. Not that much traces of pear in this one to be honest...

Plastic barrel at Gbbf 2011. Clear gold lasting white head. Woah there cowboy. This is serious stuff. Obvious alcohol on nose. More like a pear brandy. Sweet alcohol in mouth and on finish. Astonishing but pretty raw and uncultured at the same time. Touch of sweet pear juice tries to break through. Memorable

Bottle, 2pt, plastic milk-bottle style, courtesy of Brugmansia. It’s a hazy, reddish yellow golden without any carbonation or head. A bit weak on the nose, apples and some alcohol , but not as good as the Medium from the same cidery. It’s dry, medium bodied and quite warming. Apples, apple cores and some barnyard notes in the flavor. Alcohol and apples in the end. 100814

Bottle, 1pt, plastic milk-bottle style, courtesy of Brugmansia. It pours a clear, flat, golden body. Lots of apples in the nose, alcohol too. Apples and alcohol sweetness in the flavor, hints of barnyard. Dry, medium body, puckering in a nice way. Lasting, warming finish with a really nice apple flavor. A nice one indeed. 100814
