Occasionally I will make my own black and tans. This time I have a 12 oz bottle of Black & Tan from Yuengling. I have pulled out my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass for the tasting and the pour is a dark brown with some highlights at the edges followed by a thin top of creamy light tan foam. The scent is heavy with chocolate and grain. The taste is even better, malt, more of the chocolate, some woodiness and earth. Equal small amounts of sweet and bitter. Okay, but I like the ones I make with Guinness more.

Can from 7-11.
A: clear amber, thin, off-white head.
A: oxidized apple, old peanut, cellar, dust, caramel.
T: sweetish apple, plum, biscuit, yeast, some iron.
F: soft herbal hops, oxidized dried fruit, biscuit.
P: medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation.
Watery, but not too shabby and superior to the corn-fueled Premium Lagers.

Bottle pour from Total Wine & More, Danvers. It's a dark, dark brown with a few white floaties, light sparkle, thin cap of beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is fudge over sweet, earthy malt. Taste follows aroma. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not bad but not much to it.
