Description
The brewery was founded in 2005 by four home brewers who wanted to make high quality beers. In 2016 two of the original founders retired, and the brewery is today owned by a constellation of the two remaining founders, some employees at the brewery and three other Norwegian craft breweries.
Haandbryggeriet currently has 10 employees all participating in developing new ground breaking beers and recipes.
The brewery has a wide selection ranging from classic and traditional beers to new and innovative brews and hybrid beer styles. Sometimes brewed with local and Nordic ingredients such as cherries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, and lingonberries. Haandbryggeriet has since 2005 also made high quality sours and barrel aged beers such as porters and Christmas beers.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: pours like motor oil and retains the black color in the glass with a thin cap of a tan foamy head which dissipated inward and didn't leave any lace
Aroma: rich milk chocolate and dark chocolate invade cherry and raspberry tart and sweet characters, subtle coffee roast and sweetness further in the back. Light toffee in there too.
Flavor: blends all the prior mentioned aromas to a nice sweet, tart and roasty quality; mild finish of milk chocolate, cherries and raspberries
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, very smooth along the tongue and the tart harshness is very low
Overall: a very nicely done impy pastry stout I would be willing to come back to.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown in the pour and jet black in the glass, less than a finger's worth of tan foamy head swiftly glided and didn't leave any lace
Aroma: anise/black licorice-ish, light chicory, dark chocolate, woody tones, some earthy scents, light bourbon barrel
Flavor: meshes all the prior noted aromas semi-sweetly with some earthy spicy vibes, finishes mainly with the anise & bourbon barrel spice
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards the sipping side, light smoothness on the tongue, barrel spices stab the tongue somewhat unexpectedly
Overall: I was hoping for smoke somewhere in this beer but that never happened, however I am not totally disappointed as what was in this glass seemed to be something else which turned out to be pretty good.

Tip Tap draught, 2/6/26, as pictured.
Gently, tastefully smokey with no big roast. Dark chocolate, mild soy, no alcohol. The wheat gives a biscuity, nutty, mildness to it all, but it's still aromatic and clear.
Earthy, with mild roast, mild fudge, some dark chocolate and restrained soy and smoke. Excellent texture leaving a good, wheaty chew without any excess sugar or syrup. No gross ca.2006 hop character or dark roast. The parallels to Beyond Good and Evil or Genealogy (minus the maple and coffee) are striking. Same proper body and attenuation with elegant flavors preserving a modern feel without all of the alcohol, sugar and syrup. Could drink this all day.
