Description
Inspired by local brewing traditions and the vibrant US craft beer scene, Magic Rock Brewing is the culmination of a lifelong passion for beer. Richard Burhouse (aided by head brewer Stuart Ross) started the brewery in 2011 in an old out-building of the family business in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Alongside a distinctive core range we produce an ever changing line up of idiosyncratic beers with an innovative quality driven approach. Our ‘Same but Different’ beers are packed with intense yet approachable flavours which will challenge and inspire, but above all remain balanced and drinkable.

In 2022 Lion breweries have sold Magic Rock to Odyssey Inns.

Can at Hole in the Wall, Sliema. Pours copperish with an off-white head. Nose is light malty, caramel and biscuits are present alongside with pine and citruses. Taste is moderately sweet malty, somewhat even sticky with a rather apparent bitterness and hoppy notes of citrus zest, grass, vague fruits and pine. Closes with a slightly dry, bitter finish, has a light to medium body and average carbonation. Decent old school ipa.

Tap @ Både &, Kristiansand. Unclear golden body with a big, creamy white head. Nice fruity citric aroma with a touch of honey and flowers. Flavor is like a nice classic fruity IPA with a more floral touch and hint of honey. Fine body and nice, rich aftertaste. Very nice and tasty IPA with something extra.

Can @ Patricks. Quite clear, reddish golden body with a small white head. Aroma is most of all unusually, might even say weird. Kinda fruity, spicy candy something. Flavor is sweet and acidic with berries, candy, minerals, lime and hint of chilly in the aftertaste. Medium body. Uhm hm – not too artificial but still not something I would ever ask for in my beer. OK, this is a “Funny, been there done that” kind of beer

Tap @ Brygghuset. Slightly unclear golden body with a moderate sized, dense, lacing white head. Aroma has malt, hint of caramel and some general fruitiness. Flavor is smooth malt, fruit, hint of marmalade and decent bitterness. Fine, balanced body and smooth aftertaste. A classic, well made beer, perhaps a bit closer to a malty APA than IPA.

From tap at Het Klooster, Delft. A tropical extravaganza with mango, passion fruit, sugary fruits, some stone fruit. Light pale malt, mild bitter with some sweetness. Nice hop candy.

Can. Near clear gold beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, a very mild dryness, reasonable fine carbonation. Disappointingly grainy malts, a modest sweetness. Soft pine. Slightly resinous mandarin and tangerine. Light and semi dry finish. Some merit here but it could be improved a lot.
