Description
Inspired by local brewing traditions and the vibrant US craft beer scene, Magic Rock Brewing is the culmination of a lifelong passion for beer. Richard Burhouse (aided by head brewer Stuart Ross) started the brewery in 2011 in an old out-building of the family business in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Alongside a distinctive core range we produce an ever changing line up of idiosyncratic beers with an innovative quality driven approach. Our ‘Same but Different’ beers are packed with intense yet approachable flavours which will challenge and inspire, but above all remain balanced and drinkable.

In 2022 Lion breweries have sold Magic Rock to Odyssey Inns.

Can. Near clear gold beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, a very mild dryness, reasonable fine carbonation. Disappointingly grainy malts, a modest sweetness. Soft pine. Slightly resinous mandarin and tangerine. Light and semi dry finish. Some merit here but it could be improved a lot.

On tap @ Beer Week in Budapest, Saturday session. I didn't catch any distinct characteristics here, no spruce, nothing really. On the other hand I'm not really an experienced sour-drinker, nor am I very fond of them.

On tap @ BPBW, Saturday session. Looks and smells like a NEIPA: pretty hazy and sweet. Taste follows the nose, but there's a nice amount ofbitterness in there too (no surpirse, haha). I did not get any distinct honey notes tbh, although it was pretty sweet. Decent DIPA.

Dense, thick white head over veiled, well-carbonated pale yellow-golden beer. Bit dull, grainy, dusty nose. Lightly sourish pale malts, again dusty, grains & pale malts. Finish is bitter, almost metallic. Almost medium bodied, alleviation by the good carbonation; gristslick. Better than average pale lager. Txs to Stef!

Cloudy orange pour, large white head. Faint sour wheat aroma with a light salinity and a light tart frutiness. Watery mouth feel, soft carb. Subtle tartness, subtle frutiness.... Everything about this is subtle and faint. Pretty boring really. But it was clean and refreshing.

Good, dense white head over pale yellow-ochre beer, finely carbonated. Sweet rosewater, exotic fruit, impression of (sweet) wheat. Pineapple, guave, sweet. In the taste a hint of acidity, and very slight hoppy bitterness, finishing even towards some metallic bitterness. Main flavour however remains sweetish exotic fruit. Good carbonation, spritzy; light body, hopoil slickness. Decent, nothing special. Txs to Stef!

A touch of haze with a white head. Fruits, tropical, toasty malts. Medium bodied. Really looked forward to this one. Complete let down. Not terrible but super meh.

Aroma of tropical fruits, grapefruit, mango, orange, a little malty caramel, some pine, hops. Flavour is light sweet with a good bitter finish. An IPA just the way I like it, tons of fruits and hops. Excellent beer.

Aroma of ripe fruits, salt, lime, light wood, hint of Tequila. Flavour is moderate sour and salty. Enjoyable and refreshing, though I expected more sourness.

Aroma of tropical fruits, biscuity malt, pine, hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bitter finish. Rather too malt-oriented for me to be a true winner, but it’s definitely smooth and refreshing and it goes down well.
