Description
We find that the best moments in life — the most memorable — are when we spend time in the company of those who are most important to us. Our beer and spirits are made for these moments.
It all started for us in 1997 when Brett VanderKamp believed that his hometown and the brewing industry were due for a shakeup. And so, New Holland Brewing Company was born in Holland, Michigan near the shores of Lake Michigan.
Today, New Holland is recognized as one of the leading innovators in the revolution of craft brewing and distilling. With nearly 500 team members, New Holland’s craft beer and spirits are sold across the country, and around the globe. Our retail presence continues to grow with two full-service restaurants, a spirits tasting room, two brick-and-mortar stores and an online store.
We look forward to finding moments to connect and enhancing the lives of people around the world.

Pour is a very clear copper with a white head. Aroma is yeasty and doughy with some hops in there. Flavor is where this loses points. At first you notice the super sweet vinegar then comes the sour apple pucker at the swallow. This is not even close to a barley wine.

Nice light coloration with a minimal white head... Aroma is very fruity with a little bit of apple-type sweetness. Flavor starts off a little tart and then smooths out into sweeter fruit flavors.

Bottled. 2005 version. Very odd. Taste is deeply fruity, with sour cherries predominating. Really overruns any malt profile for me. I can see others get the same impression. Not a terrible beer, but I wonder if this is what they intended?

Bottled. Black, beige head. Rich chocolate aroma. Medium bodied and very roasty with filling mouthfeel. Dominated by the roasty malt. Lingering salty bitter finish. A concentrated beer, packed with flavour.

Pour is almost a bright orange with a white head. Aroma is of cinnamon and spice. Flavor is deffiantly pumpkin with a nutmeg after taste. Swallow finishes watery and thin. My first pumpkin beer and its so-so. Ok to have one but more than one is a a bit much. Could use more spice.

Aroma is really nice. Hops, pine, floral and citrus all come through. Appearance isn’t bad... a bit more effervescent than I would have liked. Flavor is pretty good, but waivers a lot, going from bitter to malty to bitter. It doesn’t do this really smoothly, which is a minus, but the flavors are alright, which is a bonus.

Bottled. Light brown pour under a thick bumpy head. Has a pleasing APA smell, malty and a tad hoppy, with no off smells in this 4+ month old bottle. Dandy hoppy taste, with pine and pineapple at work on top of a toasty malt base. A nice peppery burn going down sums up to make this a fine drinking experience. I may be over-rating this beer, but frankly I can’t see why not.

Bottled. Nice amber pour with a big fizzy head that leaves some clingies to the side. In the light, the body shows many shades, like a dark center in a frozen beer. Dry hopping is nicely evident, although it’s no longer mentioned on the label. Spicy, peppery and resiny hops. Still a nice bit of biscuit malts in the balance. Sterling example of an American IPA.

On tap at New Holland. Deep orange/amber body, medium off-white head. Potent aroma of grapefruity, piney hops. Flavor was pretty much of the "hop juice" variety, with strong grapefruit rind and pine, backed by light caramels and biscuit (well, I think so...the hops *were* quite strong, as I mentioned!). Not the most creative stab at the style, but it meets the criteria and has the right "punch."

On tap at New Holland. Basically an IPA with chocolate malts and a roastier character. Poured a nearly opaque dark brown with a thin off-white head. Piney hops aroma with some toasty, chocolatey notes. Strong grapefruit and pine hops flavors with expected chocolate and roasted malt balance. Medium-bodied, decent complexity, bitter finish. Not a bad beer but I recommend the much superior Founders Black Rye for a similar, if more interesting, tasting experience.
