Clearish brown coloured body on the pour, but fading to a muddy deep ruby-tinted brown with a thinnish tan head (one centimetre) and a nice opaque look. Aroma of fruits, apples, pears and a good curacao scent. Scents of yeast, coriander seed and spices also come through - if you didn’t see the colour, you’d think this is a tripel since there are no roasted malts in the nose nor any bitter coffee/chocolate/nuts. Medium-bodied; Very assertive effervescence fading to a light maltiness and a subtle bitter nut flavour with almost nothing else in the flavour - very mild. Strong aftertaste with almost no backbone - very odd! Overall, an amazing looking and smelling beer, but the taste is completely bland and simple - an odd beer to say the least! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, D.C. on 07-March-2009, sampled at home here in Washington on 15-March-2009.

Dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has dark malts ranging from coffee to charcoal. Dry and very roasty flavour with a long and bitter hoppy finish. It’s wonderfully aggressive, but could do with some middle ground below the very dark roasted character.

Draught@Black Door. Dark nut brown, murky, color and small white head. Glueish, plum aroma. A bit yeasty, flavor is plummy (plus raisin soup), brown sugary sweet. Alcoholic bite in the finish. Homebrew feeling.

330ml Bottle - Gold/amber with a white head and a slight haze. Hoppy and fresh aroma with grapefruit, tea and some pineapple and lemon notes. Bitter and hoppy taste with some well balanced notes of tea and grapefruit. Great and nice to see a Belgian brewery doing a lower strength beer which you can also take seriously.

dark brown, small offwhite head. aroma is sweet, quite malty, syruppy. flavor : this is strange. flavor is totally disjunct from the aroma.think ashtray filled with beer. very smokey, ashey, flavor is missing something, although i get loads of smoked grains, malts. reminds me of guinness.

Bottle. Hazy amber beer with a nice whitish head. Grass and spice aroma with malt and fruity esters. Grass and spice flavor with mineral notes and light malt. Medium bodied. Lingering grass and spice.
