Bottle. Pours deep dark mahogany, small tan head, dissipates fairly quickly leaving decent residual and good lacing. Aroma is roasty, ashtray, a bit smokey, wheat. Flavor is medium sweet, just a bit of bitterness, fairly low acidity, rich roasty flavor, toasted dark bread, a bit of tobacco. Medium body, silky mouthfeel. Very good.

Bomber shared at a tasting. Another way of doing a black IPA I guess. Pours a hazy dark brown-gray with a tan head with a hint of blue. Aroma of citrus and tropical hops, caramel, umami. The taste is citrus, candied citrus and tropical hops, caramel malt. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

Tap at Old Fashioned. Unfiltered brown-black body. Not much of a head...soapy beige residue. Massive coffee flavors. Enjoyable. Full coffee blast. Medium to full bodied. Rich, sweet brown sugar tones. Respectable coffee beer.

Tap at OF. Dulled brown-copper body. Pretty respectable hoppy bite. Piny, resinous. Steady creamy beige head. Some oily, barky malt tones. A tolerable IPA for 15 years ago. Not so bad, classic pine resin IPA. Sweet crystal malts.

16oz pour at The Map Room pours a murky amber with lots of creamy, lacing, slightly off white head. Nose is mild, slightly vegetal, mild fall fruit, some lemon, a little soap. Flavor is fairly mild too, mild honey comb, a little biscuit, orange, some lemon tea, some pine, some soap. Fairly clean, medium bodied finish. A little weak.

Location: Bottle at the Publican, 7/2/14

Aroma: The nose is citrus and floral hops with some caramel malt backing
Appearance: Pours a hazed amberish color with a smallish off-white head and decent lace
Flavor: The taste is medium-plus bitter, nice hoppiness, and a solid malt backbone
Palate: The body is medium, it has a pretty solid mouthfeel, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: This one was a nice, enjoyable, plenty drinkable IPA. It worked nicely and paired nicely with the food. Good beer.

Bottle. Banana and chocolate malt aroma - hint of charcoal. Very dark brown with moderate head. Charcoal, dark chocolate, and roasted wheat malt flavor. Mildly bitter herbal finish. A nice beer but tastes more like a schwarzbier/stout than a dunkelweizen - intensity of the malt covers up any phenols that might be present.

Bottle thanks to demmbonz. Pours opaque hazel with a small beige head that dissipates soda-quickly and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is vinous actually, raspberries, oak tannins. Flavor is very lightly tart, quickly drying the mouth, lemon, raspberry, oak tannins, a tiny note of basement funk. Medium body, low carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. This was initially very interesting, but after a while it became obvious that the beer was lacking some complexity.
