6th Floor bottleshare. Thanks to me. Opaque black brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, a very mild dryness. Reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly mild dark malts. A kind of tonkaish dark chocolate with a mellow smoky vibe. The exotic wood is less dominant than I have had in other beers but still provides that slightly odd floral vibe. Smooth chocolatey finish. Interesting and drinkalble.

On tap. Pours an opaque dark brown, almost black with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, lactose, chocolate, caramel, raisin and coffee in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium to full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Delicious and enjoyable.

Can - deep amber pour with a thick, sticky lace - rich whiskey nose, but it doesn’t overpower the earthy Marris Otter malt structure, which has a complex mushroom and pear character - soft texture, full body - deeply caramelized sugars, moderate spice, moderate whiskey and oak - vanilla and some bitterness late (too much bitterness, really, detracting from the malt complexity) - lingering earthy malt - I like it a lot, but that middle bitterness is a little too much, confusing the otherwise traditional British take on the style.

Bottled. Hazy deep orangeish amber colour with a mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is rye bread, some burnt sugar and mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is rye bread, some burnt sugar, dried fruits and mild toffeeish notes. Simplistic, but still tasty.
