Description
The Verbeeck-Back brewery has been around since the end of the 19th century, when it became one of the most beloved independent breweries in the northern region of Belgium. The brewery was, is and remains a family affair: no monks or big corporations in sight. The secrets of its successes were passed on from father to son until they became fathers themselves... and so on. However, the sons of the sixties-generation had other plans. In 1966, the brewery dozed off for a short nap.

In 2015, a new generation has risen and so has the brewery. The Verbeeck-Back family bloodline was reinforced by the De Cock family. Together, they have formed the formidable, reassuringly Belgian-sounding name Verbeeck – Back – De Cock. VBDCK. This new crop of VBDCK heirs to the family tradition of Belgian quality and craft has literally been digging up history by its roots. They are ripping through the nostalgic silence with KEREL, the beer that says it all, and the transformation of the original brewery and family residence into a new place to stay.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and spicy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, straw, citrus fruits, spices, and hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Thuis uit een flesje. Bruinig, licht troebel. Matig aroma en te licht wat betreft hoppigheid voor een ipa. Ook nasmaak wat vlak.

Have a bad experience with high alco beers... Smell-weak, acidic, some malt. Foam- thin, caramel, acidic, alcohol, weak hops, and more alcohol. Head is tiny, white in color. Appearance- brewer bottle cap, the label is imaginative. Hazy orange color, no carbonation. From - snifter Taste - acidic, caramel, malt, and loads of alcohol. Do not know what I was expecting, but this is not something I will try again. Generally acidic and alcoholic, not the worst high alco beer I had, but not close to good ones also.

Smell-medium strong, malt, raspberry, chocolate, sweet, cofee, but pleasant notes are somewhat weak. Foam- medium-thick, roast, malt, cofee, yea some berry-ish feel too. Head is small, medium-dark brown color, coffee foam. Appearance- brewer bottle cap, also somewhat interesting label, nice. The bottle is not unique for this one, however. Black color. From - snifter Taste - malt, raspberry, acidic, coffee, alcohol-ish feel. Feels like raspberry, malt mostly, not bitter, not sweet, a bit acidic.. ok some bitter aftertaste. Drinkable, but something seems missing.
