Tap at brewery. Poured a dark ruby/brown color, off-white head. Aroma was sweet, slightly roasted malts, touch of earthy hops finish. Flavor is sweet, earthy, creamy, slight roasted and cocoa note. Not too hoppy, but quite an enjoyable brew.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a light amber color, small off-white head. Aroma is grainy malts, corn/adjuncts. Flavor is mild sweetness, fruit notes, grains. Okay for a lager.

On tap at brewery. Poured a translucent bronze color with a small white head. Aroma is fresh hops, with a light sweet malt backing. Very much like a standard brew-pub APA. Not that this is a bad thing, I really enjoyed it and all it’s "unrefined" fresh glory.

Served on nitro at the brewpub. Pours a clear brown color with a large creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Tastes of coffee, sweet malts, caramel and a faint hop finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

Grower just filled at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a wisp of a white head that makes only a brief appearance. Aroma of honey, perfume, grain and faint hops. The taste is very strong honey notes, some nuttiness and a hoppy finish. Very sweet. Not sure a growler of this is going to be doable.

Growler from the brewery on 5/19/11. Pours a clear golden color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Looks quite nice. Aroma of floral hops with a bit of plum and other fruity notes. The taste is bitter hops with some citrus and herbal notes. Not much else. Not bad, but not very Belgian.

Served on cask at the Top of the Hops Beer Festival, Charlottesville, 9/11/10. Pours a thin looking milky brown color with nearly no head. Very much mud-like. The aroma is thankfully much better than the beer looks, though it is somewhat one note, as a nice sweet coffee dominates everything else in the aroma. The taste is a bit more complex, with coffee, caramel, citrus hops and faint chocolate. Medium bodied. Looks like hell, but still a pretty nice beer.

On nitro tap at the Capital Ale House VA Beer Festival on 07/03/2010. Clear black body with a large dense creamy tan head. Sweet roast and chocolate aroma. Chocolate and roast flavor with a dry bitter finish. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

Growler from the brewpub courtesy of MaltDawg on 03/14/2010. Very clear copper amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet candi sugar, caramel, and belgian spice aroma. Sweet belgian spice flavor with a candi sugar background and a bit of alcohol. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.
