Via Achille Grandi 10, Podenzano (PC), 29027, Italy
Description
Everything started in 2011, thanks to the collaboration of the brothers Marcello, Monica and Davide Ceresa. The name Retorto was suggested by the topography of the valley where the brewery is located, and it’s ironically personified in a clumsy king who never disdains a pint of good beer. Determined by the strong aspiration of the brewer Marcello and a shared yearning for the ancient art of making beer, the three brothers aspire to revolutionize the italian beer landscape, testing new flavors and new sensations.

Bottle, Domus Birrae, Roma. Love the label art. Murky orange pour with a rude white head. Plenty of malt in the beak in tandem with some herb, fruity hop and yeast notes. Flavour was caramel, fruits and relatively understated hop bitterness. Fair balance struck. Good but not singing from the mountaintops.

Thank you daniele for this! Large and important-looking bottle. Pours a bit hazy amber, nice head with thin but active carbonation, staying long. Has a nice floral hop aroma, I feel some nice bitter tones, together with some malt sweetness underneath. Taste is exactly how I imagine a good APA to feel - there is nice hop bitterness, balanced with velvety mouthfeel and decent body. Hop bitterness lingers longer in the aftertaste. Very enjoyable, thumbs up!

Draft sample @ Birra Expo’14 Piacenza. Brune-acajou, col beige.
