Description
It was in 1973 that the adventure of the "Au Baron" brewery began. Alain Bailleux then purchased the last bistro in the village there. There he meets Danielle who will become his wife. Together, they embark on small catering. Later, Alain and his father, retired master brewer, challenge each other; create a craft brewery. This will be done on June 8, 1989 when Gussignies inaugurated the village brewery with Saint-Médard, a beer inspired by the farm-breweries of yesteryear. For a few years now, Florence and Xavier have taken over the reins of the family business and continue to make the Baron prosper by adding a local store where you can buy beers and products from local producers.

Bottle 750ml @ gunnfryd.
Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, sugar and floral. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long malty, yeasty and floral finish. Body is full, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A bit warming, a bit sweet perhaps, else it's nice indeed. Fruity, spiced, with white sugar. Decent indeed. 646414 260114

Huge, dense, stable, lightly yellowish head over veiled orangeish yellow beer, leaving adhesive foam. Very spicy, herbal & yeasty. Grains, kernels and dry farmyard herbs. Bit peppery. Again spicy & herbal in the taste. Flavour are less dry roadhedge herbs. Sharpish main flavour, long lasting. Despite light body, rather chewy "mouthfull". Very well carbonated, spritzy. Not half bad, Au Baron has always been a good brewery, despite its precessor role. Thx to Stef!

The only vaguely disappointing Au Baron I've had. Lots of currant puree, floral notes. Very juicy, thin. Would like some more hops to balance it out.

750ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, pinkish, golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, mildly funky and floral, minimally herbal aroma, sweet-ish, pale malty background, hints of petals, red currant, a touch of horse dung. Taste is moderately bitter, floral, tart-ish fruity and pale malty, hints of lemonade, red currant, a touch of petals, very mild funkiness.
Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation.
Light, refreshing - nice.

750 ml corked & caged green bottle, as St Médard Triple Blonde de Caractère, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9.5%. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian ale yeast, spicy hops and stewed pale fruits. The medium sweet flavour has the same elements, notes of alcohol, with a noticeable bitterness in the finish. A nice French triple.
