Description
Founded in December 2009 by beer lovers trying to make work fun again, Clown Shoes has been redefining what craft beer should be. We strive to add our own little creative twists on under-represented styles and styles in need of change.

In late 2017, Clown Shoes joined Mass. Bay Brewing Company, makers of Harpoon and UFO. With the greater resources and capabilities, we have expanded our special release and barrel aging programs with over 25 one-off beers in 2018 alone. Clown Shoes continues to grow and innovate, while keeping our own personality and style to bring you interesting and unique beers.

Weak chocolate nose. Clear brown, thin yellow head, good lacing. Earth and moss flavor, nothing too wild. I prefer a hoppier brown, but this is respectable.

Pours hazy deep caramel into a tulip. White congolmerate head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Dusty tangerine and juicy fruit aromas. Crisp with upfront sweet summer fruit quickly followed by a lasting bitter grapefruit finish.

Ash and whole orange aroma. Clear mahogany, thin tan head, good lacing. Charred oak and ash flavor with subtle lemon zest hints. Tar notes in the end. Nice mouthfeel. Hops are sparing or drowned out by the patent malt.

On draft @ Sunset Grill in Allston, MA . Centennial hop in the nose and taste. Belgian spice, a fruity and floral hops. With a nice citrus presence. (orange) A easy, clean and refreshing IPA. Leaves a nice tingle on the tongue in the finish. A classic example of the style. A GREAT job from this brewery.
