From bottle at MB2 31.07.26. Bottle is marked best before 09-2026, but I do not know what vintage that males it. Anyway, I do not see the point in allocating vintages to beers that are not marked with a specific vintage year. And this is not.
Dark mahogany. Foamy and fizzy beige head. Fine aroma of dries red berries and dark candy sugar. Very fine taste of roasted malt, dried red berries and currants. Also a hint of cough medicine.

Bottle. Caramel malt aroma with notes of toffee, Candi sugar, spicy Belgian yeast, floral hops and some dark fruit. Pours cloudy copper-amber colored with half a finger of tan head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with caramel, toffee and dark fruit flavors as well as having a rich, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes quite smooth with Candi sugar, spicy Belgian yeast and floral hop flavors. Very nice.

Bottle at Hops, Crewe. Not sure of year vintage but best before date was 2027 ! Pours a dark ruby with minimal cream head. The aroma has roasted malts, raisins and wood tannins.in the motuh it is basically sweet but with a hint of sharpness. There is an overall fruity flavour with malts, dried fruit, cinnamon and hints of alcoholic strength. Finish is quite dry. This is nice.

0,33 l bottle from Jumbo, Nes. Cloudy reddish to pale copper in the glass with a stable two finger light tanned head. Looks really good. Light caramel, sugar sweetness and some fruity elements on the nose. Taste starts a little bitt dry, caramel, sugared caramel, some fruity parts, little bit alcoholic scratchy. Increasing malt in the second part. Belgian style. Present bitterness. Little bit above average carbonated. BB 09/2028.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 28.02.2026) im 2024-07 getrunken. Dieses rotbraune Bier kommt mit dem typischen malzigen Aromen mit leichter Bananennote im Belgischen Dunklen Starkbier Stil daher. Der eher schwache Körper erinnert es mich eher an ein Dubbel als an ein Quardruple.

Bottle to chalice.
Appearance: amber/auburn color with a two finger eggshell white foamy head which dissipated nicely and left a little bit of sly lace
Aroma: caramel/toffee malts with some Belgian-esque spices - slightly woody and earthy with some candi sugars and a light herbal quality
Flavor: encompasses a nice blend of the prior noted aromas to a sweet to semi-spicy undertone; finishes malt forward with a touch of dryness
Texture: medium bodied; leaning towards being a sipper; some smoothness but also a little bit of that "Belgian-throaty-grab" I was hoping of getting - but that does seem a lot milder than Belgian ales I get from Europe (then again this was brewed in the Netherlands and not Belgium - so there's that)
Overall: I would have this again if I could get it - *2026 edit: "but I see I'm late to the party of uploading this review". It is what it is, I guess.

Huge pale beige head, dense and stable, over opaque dark brown beer. Soupy nose, dark malts' galore, orangepeel, spices, hardboard; "hot" malts. Drier flavour, more - subtly - spiced. Faraway hints of cinnamon and laurel, Szechuan pepper. And of course the bog myrtle, but that is not easy to recognise unless very outspoken. Well bodied, yet not heavy. Good carbonation, bit sticky, lingering. Subtle variation and worth trying. Txs to Stef!

Refrigerated 33 cl brown bottle poured into a Trappist glass. Translucent burnt orange with medium off-white head. Aroma is spice, medium body, medium carbonation, and great lacing. Taste is spice with base malt.
