Description
Bayern Brewing was founded in Missoula, Montana in 1987. Literally translated, Bayern (pronounced Bye-ern) means the German state of Bavaria - the homeland of Jurgen Knoller, Bayern Brewing’s owner and Masterbrewer.

Bayern Brewing is steeped in the rich tradition of Bavaria, a region renowned for producing the world’s most famous and sophisticated beer. We brew our lager beers in strict accordance to the German Law of Purity (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516. That means no berries, adjuncts, artificial carbonation, or other strange ingredients are used in the process. All you will find in a Bayern beer is malted barley, yeast, hops, and water, and the experience of a Bavarian Masterbrewer.

All Bayern beers are fully matured, a process that takes up to four times as long as conventional ales and at least twice as long as mass-produced domestic lagers. Bayern employs state-of-the-art equipment to produce quality standards unsurpassed in the micro brewing industry.

Drank 3/19/11. Thanks to Brenn79 for this. "Best by Jan. 2011." 12 oz bottle into lager glass. Pours a hazy cantaloupe hue with minimal head. Smells of stale grain and caramel malt. Taste is sweet and salty; has a faint hoppy bite in the finish. Highly carbonated and light-bodied. Very bland.

Drank 3/19/11. Thanks to Brenn79 for this. "Best by Jan. 2011." 12 oz bottle into footed pilsner glass. Pours a beautiful hazy gold with a small head. Smells like a barn opened up after being closed up for about ten years. Taste starts out sweet and finishes bitter and dry. Carbonation is medium-high, body is medium. Boring.

Gold color. Tastes more like a lager than even a light weizen. Sween corn in the flavor and light yeast. Good palate on this beer. Sweet grain finish.

One of the best American pils I have had. Light gold color. Carbonation is a little low. Well hopped, almost like a Bohemian pilsener. Medium palate.

Bottled from Spokane, WA. Cloudy pale golden. Mustard seed aroma. Mid sweet with grainy malt formaing a fairly soft mid-sized body. Some salty hops combine well with mildly warming alcohol and grain. A pleasant, well balanced bock.
