Description
Wachusett Brewing Company was founded by three Massachusetts college students obsessed with the brewing culture and an appreciation for craft beer during their adventures of biking, canoeing, and hiking around New England. Armed with a “we can do this” attitude, the three cast off from their careers in engineering and biology to pursue their passion to make great beer.

Can pour into tulip glass from One Stop Market. Aroma is moderately strong strawberry over a dry champagne-like yeastiness. Appearance is hazy pale yellow with champagne-like sparkle, finger width quickly fading white foamy head and no lacing. Taste is light sweet strawberry over dry champagne tart and spice. Palate is medium bodied with thin texture and dominated by stinging fizzy carbonation, with dry, lightly sweet finish. Overall, aroma is stronger than taste--I was expecting to get blown away by too much strawberry but was instead left wanting more.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from McAloon’s in N. Andover, MA. Aroma is Belgian yeast, fruity esters, bubble gum, burning match. Appearance is hazy yellowish brown with 1 1/2 finger-width foamy white head with decent retention, nice sparkle, and sudsy lacing. Taste is strong mix of sweet esters, tropical fruit, moderate bitter and mild alcohol. Palate is surprisingly light bodied with thin, creamy texture but dominated by fizzy carbonation (pays to let it sit). Finish is crisp and dry with lingering sweetness. Overall, not as enjoyable as plain old Larry. Had one where the appearance was sort of dirty dishwater and the palate was weak, and another where appearance and palate were nice.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from McAloon’s in North Andover, MA. Aroma is moderately strong piney, floral, citrusy hops. Appearance is hazy golden pour with no sparkle, two finger-width white foamy head with poor retention and mild lacing. Taste is mildly floral bitterness. Palate is medium bodied with somewhat sticky texture, lively carbonation and dry finish. Overall, this is a step up from a macro but doesn’t have any complexity.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from McAloon’s, N. Andover, MA. Aroma is light bread, cereal, dough. Appearance is hazy yellow with trace sparkle, 1/2 finger-width white foamy head with poor retention and mild lacing. Taste is light sweet malts, vague metallic. Palate is medium bodied with average texture, fizzy carbonation and dry finish. Overall, pretty middle of the road. Not bad as an alternative to a macro but nothing to recommend it.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Mcaloon’s in N. Andover, MA. Aroma is subtle German yeast and Saaz hops with light spiciness. Appearance is pale yellow with slight haze, trace sparkle (sort of urine-like) and 1/2 finger-width foamy white head with poor retention and no lacing. Taste is light sour and bitter. Palate is light bodied with thin texture and lively carbonation (a bit much) with crisp, dry finish. Overall, this is perfect to have when you are having more than one (like while watching a football game) and is an alternative to macro beers. But let’s face it, its most interesting feature is its name. An extra point or two for that, which will probably be shared by New Englanders, and may be similarly downgraded for the same reason if it is ever released outside of New England. "It is what it is."
