Can. Sour orange juice and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy orange-yellow color with small head. Stale wheat malt flavor with slight hint of orange. Lacks the fruity/spicy esters of most Hefes.

Consumed as Gluek Dark, at Glueks bar, downtown Minneapolis. For anyone who hasn’t been, this bar is a good time, quality of the beer aside. I was already in the bag from goldschlager and vodka-cranberry, but this dark brown beer is fairly called a dunkel or vienna. Some malt and a mild roasted character. Probably the least bad beer I have had from this brewery.

Aroma is honey? Orange tinged gold color. Thin to medium bodied. Sort of creamy carbonation (does not seem to be a nitro can). The flavor is kind of non-descript. Malt. Not very wheaty. It has a flavor, it’s not a particularly bad flavor, but it has little to recommend it. The finish is almost non-existent. The mouth is left with something like malt and wet paper. Not a great drink. Not a hefeweizen except that there may be some wheat in the brew.

Aroma of caramel malt. Orange tinged amber color with a white head that rapidly filmed. Thin to medium body. Caramel sweetness with an accompanying sour note. Dryish at the finish. There is not very much bitter, but the sour aspect is enough to balance off the malt. Actually pretty refreshing.

Golden color. Gentle aroma of hops. Medium-light mouthfeel, some light malt and correct bitterness, but low hop aromas. Too simple.

Canette.

Pleasant, but light, malt aroma backed by a hint of grassy/floral hop. Nice amber color with a white head that did not stick. Twirling the glass evinces some temporary lacing. Sweet darkish malt flavor; almost chewy mouthfeel. Carbonation is on the edge of too much. The finish has a little hop, but not enough to balance out the malt. Leaves the mouth a bit tingly though, so there must be something besides malt.

Zero aroma. Light amber color with a white head that laces a little! Very light malt, essentially no hop, overall the flavor is watery toffee. My memory says the Near Beer of decades ago was more flavorful. The finish, if you care to use that label, is such that you can imagine a bitter hiding away. There’s probably a place for this, but where or when is a mystery to me.

Can. Grassy aroma. Light, but it does not smell bad. Sort of better than Bud Light. Clear brassy color. White head was strong, then collapsed. Has a light corn/grass flavor. I think there is some hop bitter at the end, but it also has a wet cardboard aspect. It’s at least a tie for Bud Light. It’s not great. It is a drain pour. But if you have to have this sort of beer, this is probably a good one to have.

Its brown. Gluek can’t even get a color right. Smells and tastes like a cheap malt liquor.
