Canned, 330 ml, shared with JFK10000 and Miro. Pours orange, white head. Stinks a bit, malty, floral notes, caramel. Light bodied, drinkable but that’s it.

Tap at TrashZone. End of the keg so on the house. Deep brown with a finger of head. Rum raisin cake nose with lots of dark fruit plum, prune and dark grapes. Super smooth, but a little heavy. More fruit and caramel notes as it warms. Finish is sweet but has spice and star anise. Good stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Karumina on 11 Jan 2016 at 18:39 - Score: 7

Tap at Beerfes Kamikochi 2015. Pours nice hazy golden, persistent and foamy head. Aroma is thick, I am getting some koshihikari rice that feels actually alright (usually I don’t like that). No idea if they used it or not. Anyhow, also one of the strongest banana aromas that I have ever had in a weizen. Taste is also full on, thick with banana, candy, cloves and some herbal character. Good stuff!

On tap at the 2015 Tanabata Fest, shame these guys are getting buildozed for the sake of an unnecessary highway out in the sticks. Hidatakayama Pilsner on tap at the Toyama fest. It pours a light gold with an impressive thick fluffy head. A grainy sweet light malt with a noble hop aroma, herbal bitterness. Solid & clean.

Hidatakayama’s Pale Ale on tap at Takumiya. It pours a glowingly vibrant copper color with fruity pine needles aroma. The taste is clean caramel biscuit, grape and a light bitterness. More English than American but solidly done, not too sweet and well balanced. It grew on me and went down smooth.

Bottle as Extra Special shared by Mick. 7% a big malty red Amber pour with s fiu beige head. The nose is caramel vinous malty sweet. The body is medium soft and fairly full. The taste is crackery malts, caramel sweet and smoothly tasty. Another pleasant surprise, good stuff.

Hidetakayama Weizen 5% a souvenir from Mickey Blue Eyes. It ours a lovely cloudy straw gold with a fizzy white head that leaves a slapdash soapy lacing. A wheaty chewy light malt nose, ok clove spiciness but with an unfortunate buttery off-flavor lurking in the background. The taste is crackery wheat light malts, buttery popcorn diacetyl but mild & some light spices. Overall ok but could be better.

On tap at Craft Man. A dark reddish brown pour with a tan head. Spicy yeasty aroma. Winey, boozey but tastey. A Belgian strong with a chocolatey malt backbone. Quite nice, you really don’t taste that 10% at all-dangerous!
