Pours fairly crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers, Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, raisin, plum, fig, brown bread, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast ester notes; with good strength. A bit too fruity, but not bad. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light roast/earthy hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, light dark fruit, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast ester notes; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Taste is a fair bit cleaner than the aromas with much lower fruitiness and good malt presence. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Munich dunkel style. Good robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, herbal hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Promotional cans. Pours a cloudy burnished gold color under a big fizzy head. Does have a smell of tangerine and a bit of grape must, somewhere in the neighborhood of DFH’s Noble Rot. Taste is a little bit of malt, then a load of citrus juice, though without the pulp. A slightly spicy follow-up on top of the usual wheat and rye notes. I guess using oatmeal adds a bit of smoothness that may have helped balance out the tart citrus. Not much hop to speak of, considered against the fruity load, perhaps holding some of its sweetness in check.

Appearance: It pours a clear golden-orange color with a small head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, light and okay, decent hop flavor, light malt backing
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with an okay mouthfeel
Overall Impression: There isn't anything particularly wrong with this beer, it just isn't too exciting. Okay beer, but not something I'd run (or even walk briskly) back for.

Aroma: The nose is malty and kind of dull (kind of a theme here), chocolate and caramel notes
Appearance: This one pours a dark brownish color with a reddish hue
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, malty, a little thin, with a decent amount of sweetness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has an okay mouthfeel, and a thin finish
Overall Impression: Just a very okay beer. Really no issues with it per se, just not all that interesting at all. Fine. Drinkable. Forgettable.

Appearance: Pours a light yellowish color, unclear, with a fizzy white head
Flavor: Flavor-wise this one is light and similar to the nose, okay, but leans pretty dull
Palate: The body is light, it is rather fizzy carbonation-wise, with an okay mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I wasn't a huge fan of this beer. It is on-style enough, but it comes off as fairly dull. Not a favorite of mine.

Nice aromas with good balance and solid complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, dark malt, and moderate oak presence; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, fig, caramel, toast, molasses, dark bread, oak, clove, light roast, light vanilla, herbal, floral, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fair amount of earthy oak spiciness and hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, fig, caramel, toast, molasses, dark bread, oak, clove, light roast, herbal, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast, dark malt, and oak flavors; with a nice oak flavor balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and moderately slick/tannic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Old ale. Good complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, dark malt, and oak flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV; despite noticeable alcohol heat. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a light copper with a half finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and grains. Taste is similar. Lightly bitter with some herbal hops and light metallic notes. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and a surprisingly long finish. Pretty good. Much better than I was expecting.
