Description
Timmermans has kept the tradition of the true lambic alive for over 300 years now. This unique beer, made with 30% wheat, is brewed in Itterbeek, in the oldest active lambic brewery. At its origin is a miracle: micro-organisms in the air of the Senne valley end up in the wort and cause spontaneous fermentation. This is why a true lambic is brewed only within a 15 km radius of Brussels, in the area known as Pajottenland. Since 1993, Martin’s Finest Beer Selection has been proud to preserve this authentic part of Belgium’s beer heritage.

Pours darker , clear pink. Pinkwhite head. Scent is very intense, sweetened fruity candy, not at all recognizable on the lambic. Taste is sharp, very intensely sweetened, without getting over the top sticky. Certainly lost all the lambic goodness though. Sugary (up dront) with raspberry syrup behind it. Hibiscus gives a florality which is hidden by the dominating sugar. Med high carbonation, med thin body. Has a certain element of bacardi breezer going on, to give you an idea about the sweet VS sour balance. Drinkable, in a way a lemonade is drinkable, but very boring and exhausting. If there was any quality in the lambic to begin with, this beer does a great job hiding it.

Backlog September 2011. Quite clear golden body under a small white head. Aroma is light acidic with fruit and mild funk. Taste is more acidic than expected from aroma, light malt, citric fruit, lemon, sweet peaches, white sugar and hint of candy sugar, mild funk/barnyard. Medium body with refreshing aftertaste. Not super complex, but refreshing and quaffable.

Bottle from Beer Love: pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is some chocolate, cherry and vinegar. Nice combination of flavors where the lambic brings out the chocolatey sweetness in the Guinness. Weird but it kind of works.

Nice bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head, clear reddish color. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, dried cherries, almond pudding, fruit stones, grass, cherry candy, paper. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish grassy, fruit stones, paper, minerals, grass, berry skin, dusty cherries, almond essence, bark. Little bitterness, slightly harsh fruity mouthfeel. Boring.

Draught Transparant head, fast gone over amber-golden beer. Lambicnose*, mild, with a sweetish, heavy, almost boozy aroma; *: old wet wood, apples, bit of sulphur, samphire. Sweet, in the mouth the Bourbon is identifyable. Faint flavour of fruitdrops, guimauves. In the background, mild lactic acid, sour wood. Light body, if more dense than usual for older lambic, and very slick to oily. Original, but it would be exaggerated to call it exceptional.
