Description
Timmermans has kept the tradition of the true lambic alive for over 300 years now. This unique beer, made with 30% wheat, is brewed in Itterbeek, in the oldest active lambic brewery. At its origin is a miracle: micro-organisms in the air of the Senne valley end up in the wort and cause spontaneous fermentation. This is why a true lambic is brewed only within a 15 km radius of Brussels, in the area known as Pajottenland. Since 1993, Martin’s Finest Beer Selection has been proud to preserve this authentic part of Belgium’s beer heritage.

Bottle from Dekoninck Buizingen. Brewed 2020, bottled 2023, 6.7%, blend of 1 and 3 years old Lambics according to the label. Color: Clear golden, white head. Aroma: Rural funk, hay, tart. Taste: Over moderate to medium tart, a little sweetness also, which most probably will fade away with time but this one definitely is still quite young. Fruity notes of citrus, tart apples. Subtle hay and straw and oak wood. Tannins. Dry to very dry finish. Nice one, easy drinkable, entry-level Geuze that's lacking some complexity.

Poured from 375mL bottle (pkg 31/10/2019). Dark brown with small beige head. Raisin, mild caramel, sweet balsamic-like quality. With the age, it's starting to verge on a sweet oud bruin quality, no roast quality left. Bit of an odd combo, but decent.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear red with a slight, creamy pink head. Light sweet with nice juicy cherry character, no acidity, decent dry black pepper kick, ripe berries. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Fairly clean to finish, more sweet and jammy cherry notes, restrained spicy black pepper, Hawaiian Punch. Enjoyable stuff.

A light haze on this cherry red beer, small pale pink head. Rich marischino cherry nose. Smooth and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Cherry follows the nose. One note maraschino cherry, good fun. There is just a mild and soft black pepper vibe on the soft and semi dry finish. Good cheap Belgo shiza.
