Description
Big Drop Brewing Co. is a new craft beer company dedicated to making great beer with an ABV of no more than 0.5%.
Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by the-then City lawyer Rob Fink, along with his school-friend/band-mate, designer and entrepreneur, James Kindred. Along with renowned experimental brewer, Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co), they’ve perfected techniques to make alcohol-free craft beer without the need for artificial removal of alcohol.
The 2018 contract with a leading supermarket chain will require Big Drop, which moved production from a small-batch brewer in Bermondsey to Sussex-based own-label specialist Hepworth, to scale up production from 10,000 litres per month to some 40,000 litres.
Production moved to Black Sheep Brewery after a deal was agreed with Keystone Brewing Group, announced December 2024.

Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Black, rich lively head. Somewhat metallic nose with some cocoa. Sweet with thin body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Almunium foil wrapped around cocoa powder dissolved in too much water. Metallic finish with some saccharine.

0.44 l can from 'OnderNulPuntVijf', best before July 2021 (bought recently). Clear, very dark brown to black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and slightly fruity aroma of chocolate, cherry and some coffee. Rather sweet, malty, gently roasty and slightly fruity taste of chocolate, coffee, some cherry and light hazelnut, followed by a short, minimally bitter, slightly roasty finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice!

Can picked up at Væskebalancen - Valby and drunk at home - pours black with a beige head. Sweet and medium roasted malty with notes of chocolate, caramel, touch of coffee roast, singed brown sugar, sweet lactose lending some creamy enhancement to the body, impressive AF stout.

Can picked up at Væskebalancen - Valby and drunk at home - pours very dark brown to black with a off-white head. Toasted and sweet malty with notes of caramel, toffee, cocoa, brown sugar, bitter grassy undertones, body pretty decent for a AF with some sweet lacto notes, light nutty into the sweet malty close. Good stuff.

0.44 l can from 'OnderNulPuntVijf', best before January 2022. Clear, deep amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish, gently fruity-floral aroma of mango, some marmelade and traces of tea. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, quite fruity-floral taste of mango, marmelade, light bread crust and traces of honey, followed by a short, moderately bitter, minimally herbal finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Ok, don't really get the juniper.

Pours dark, caramelly / Chestnut brown. Small white head fades fast. Scent is sharp, darker malts, mild caramel, mild nuttyness. Taste is fairly thin. notes of ashyness, alongside the caramel, earthy, nutty tones of the dark malts. Sharp, medium high to high bitterness ( for a beer like this) . not smooth and fullbodied. Recognizable NA. Not bad, but not as good as I had hoped.
