Bottle from 7/11 in Hakone as Hakone Shichitou Pilsener. Clear gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Grainy nose with a touch of grass. Simple and straightforward on the palate. Bit of multi-grain bread, lemon and grass. Light bitter finish with good carbonation. Very decent.

Bottle from 7/11 in Hakone as Hakone Sichitou Red Ale. Pours a hazy brown with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Light on the palate without much aroma present. Some cocoa and chocolate cake notes on the palate, cherry and fall fruit. Soft mouthfeel, similar to old cola. Light finish with some lingering plum. Not bad.

Bottle shared. Thanks Davido. Caramel malt, grass and paint thinner / plastic notes on the nose. Sweet but a weird chemical thing going on. Sweaty socks. Couldn’t find the madarina Bavaria. Pretty gross. --- Beer merged from original tick of Lady Be on 05 Mar 2016 at 20:30 - Score: 3. Original review text: Sweaty socks, chalky dryness.

At a tasting, as Hakone Sichitou Red Ale, thanks, small bubbly head, very hazy red to light brown color, aroma of caramel and sour fruits, bland malty flavor with a hint of hay, light bitterness. So so.

Bottle shared at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks mom for this bottle! As Hakone Shichitou Red Ale. 5%. Hazy red-amber color. Aroma of malt, toast, a fruity note, a bit of cardboard. Sweetish flavor with malt, caramel, a bit of toast, light fruitiness, a light cardboard note, and a drier finish. Light to medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Ariel’s place in Jaffa. Thanks mom for this bottle! As Hakone Shichitou Pilsener. Aroma of grassy hops, graininess, a bit of acetaldehyde. Flavor has sweetish graininess, and bitterish grassy hops. Light-bodied. Pretty easy-drinking.

Tap at Beer Fes Osaka 2015. Actually, from the bottle I think. Pretty red-amber color. Decent malty nose, caramel, fruits, cherry. Nice fruity flavors, light and clean. Well made.
