Bottle. Dark amber colour, small golden head. Aroma is malty, brown bread, bit of spice, slight fruitiness. Taste is lightly spicy, bready malt again, little bit if strawberry. Little bit of bitterness at finish.

Bottle at a pizza place in Hakone. Light clear golden colour, white bubbly head soon faded. Aroma is very grainy, touch of hoppy bitterness, bit grassy, creamy too. Taste is similar, nice and grainy. Very crisp. Finish is lemon and grassy bitterness. Pretty simple, but pretty nice.

Bought at a store in Gora. Head is ok, but almost no aroma. Quite dry, some malty background taste but almost no hop flavor or aroma. Similar to many Japanese pale ales I've had, really not fitting the pale ale moniker. Needs some aroma addition and dry hopping.

330ml bottle from a shop in Gora. Malty caramel aroma, fine head but not long lasting. A bit of caramel aftertaste, but not quite enough flavor. Minimal hops. Needs a bit more of something.

Bottle poured into a glass showing hazy dark orange with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows banana and bubble gum. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of banana and bubblegum with a bready finish. Standard hefeweizen.

33 cl bottle served in red wine glass. Pours slightly hazy greenish golden with rocky white head. Aroma is very mild: just a hint of lemon and bread crust. Taste is surprisingly good and more complex than aroma let know: crisp, fresh and round, with nice bitterness in the long finish that brings some reminiscence of vanilla. I thought it’d be a lot less, but it’s not bad at all.

Bottle from 7/11 in Hakone. Pours a fairly clear golden amber with a finger of off-white foam. Grainy malt nose with some caramel and light citrus. Sweet on the palate with a malty, ovaltine character. Some mikan and more toasted caramel. Finishes a tad sweet with bitterness. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hakone Shichitou Pale Ale on 20 Oct 2016 at 19:13 - Score: 6
