Canned 2/14/18, drunk 3/4/18.
Inky, opaque, ebony. No head.
Char, salt and soy come out guns blazin...Lots of dark fruit tries to take it an English route, which is appreciated. Not the usual fudge, roast, vanilla of most contemporary American Imperial Stouts. No hops or barrel noted (not sure if this is barreled, even).
In the mouth it's watery and loose/thin with dark fruit fighting against ash and bitter, black chocolate. Finishes with coconut that doesn't seem cohesive or necessary at all. At least the attenuation is good/high; it's not a fudgey booze bomb. But there's heavy soy and the coconut comes off almost astringent. Was not able to take too many sips...

Canned 2/14/18, drunk 3/1 and 3/30/18.
Very strange, purple-tinted, dark mauve. Ugly soupy-haze. Off-white head fizzles to a ring quickly.
Butter and oxidation only slightly outdo the thick, twangy pine resin and over-boiled, stewed hop vegetal character.
In the mouth it's sharp, peppery, full of butter and slick, oily textures. Resin, sharp esters and twangy, horribly crude, messy hops. The 3/30 can wasn't as bad oxidation and diacetyl-wise, but what it made up for in that, it lost by having the resin and twang more exposed.
