Draught at Mad for Beer, Rome
Hazy amber color with creamy head. The aroma is hoppy and earthy, some manure. Good body strength, the mouthfeel is lightly oily; strong malt and caramel flavor with some crystal; strong bitterness, with plenty of resins and citrus fruits (oranges and tangerines); long final, with the same earthy/manure character.
Good and powerful, but I prefer more elegant beers.

Hazy light amber color with small head. Mild but nice fruity aroma, tangerine, some bread, and light paper. Lean mouthfeel; it’s very dry, with limited malt and cereals flavor, light bread touch, and a relatively strong bitterness; it’s missing a bit some crispy malt and some fruitiness.

Black color with giant beige head. Nice aroma, mixing roasted malt, hops, feety yeast. Smooth mouthfeel; very good flavor, roasted malt, chocolate, resiny hops.

Cloudy blond color with medium sized head. It has a nice aroma of pilsner malt and noble hops. It has some good malt flavor, but not the crispness I’m used to; good bitterness level, with a grassy touch, but the light sweetness in the end is out of place, and it doesn’t have enough noble hop character.
Good but with some doubt; I’m quite sure I would prefer a non imperialized version.

From a 330ml bottle on 22/5/2013. Pours a cloudy dark golden witha smallish head. Has a very pleasant, light aroma featuring honey, floral and fruity notes. In the mouth, you get pronounced honey flavours, and lots of sweet citrus and stone fruit (orange, lemon, apricot and peach. The hops deliver a satisfying, lingering bitter finish, with just a dash of grapefruit presenting. The body is medium to full and the carbonation lively, but not off putting. This is really nice stuff. Definitely not a typical IPA, but really rewarding. If you think Peroni is all that the Italians have to offer, try this.
