Description
Kleiburg is the beer of the Klei Monastery: a spiritual and hospitable place in the Amsterdam Bijlmer neighbourhood. We are a social enterprise and are inspired by traditional Belgian monastery beers and give it an innovative twist. This results in very own specific beers: always recognizable and at the same time surprising.

Nasmaak is licht bitter.

Bottle, 10,7%. Fruity aroma, roasted coffee. Sweet and jammy malt note. Almost black colour. Red shine, seems clear. Good stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is sweet, jammy and roasted. Mild bitterness in the finish, nutty with malt syrup notes. Creamy and prickly mouthfeel.

Bottle 33cl. bough 04/2019, @home poured into a chalice. Clear deep amber colour, thin fizzy off-white head, quickly diminishing, no lacing. Aroma sweet malts, liquorice, caramel, dark fruits, raisins, dates, alcohol, Taste light light heavy sweet, slightly bitter, toffee, dark fruits, raisins, alcohol, brown sugar. Full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, light roast, alcohol, vinous notes, sugary, a bit one-dimensional brew but very nice.

(Draught at De Proefzaak, Amsterdam, 6 May 2022) Hazy amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of rye, caramel, orange peel and resin. Malty, hoppy taste with caramel, rye, orange peel, resin, a touch of yeast and a generous citric, resiny bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. A bit sharp, but quite tasty. Nice one.
