Description
We have been brewing beer for beer lovers since 1994. The brewery was founded in the city of Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands) which is situated at the banks of the Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde). In 2008 the brewery moved to the city of Hoogstraten in Antwerp Province, just across the Belgian border with The Netherlands. There we continued to brew well balanced beers, classic Belgian with a modern touch. Many characteristics still refer to our birthplace. Our mascot the crab is also the mascot of Bergen op Zoom and the two so called ‘wild men’ are shown in the flag and coat of arms of the city since 1622. These wild men are still shown on all our labels, portraying the different beer names.

Every sip of Scheldebeer has been brewed in our own brewery, build with love and care. We are ambitious brewers who prefer craft beers with a sense of the past and a taste of the present. True to traditions but always looking for an exciting balance between nostalgic and new, modest and daring. Our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized and have bottle refermentation. Besides from all the natural ingredients we hope you'll taste patience and devotion in all the flavours. Cheers!

Aroma of malts, fruits, yeast, coriander. Flavour is sweet, yeasty and fruity. Not remarkable in anyway, just very well-balanced. I am surprised at how much I like this one.

Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, raisins, dark fruits, yeast. Flavour is medium sweet, not as sweet as most inferior Dunkler Bocks. Not being a fan of the style, I found this one decent and pleasant.

Aroma of dark malt, caramel, toffee, hint of dark fruits, slight sugary notes. Flavour is medium sweet with a light bitter finish. Body is full, drinks easier than you’d expect from a 10% ABV beer. Sweet, but not disturbingly sweet. Smooth ’Tripelbock’

I had the bartender check the keg, it was labeled Scheldebrouwerij Tripel Speciaal with an ABV of 8.7. Aroma of sweetish fruits, spicy yeast, floral notes, some malt, hoppy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Pretty good Tripel, well-balanced and comes with a nice bitter finish.

Bottle at home. Aroma of grainy malt, straw, hint of hops. Flavour is moderate to medium bitter. Body is light to medium. A bit boring and very run-of-the-mill, but not a bad Pilsener at all.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is floral hops, yeast, ripe fruits, a bit candied, bubblegum, citrus, bready malt, banana. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Nice hop-enhanced Tripel, I get more Citra than Mosaic, they got this one right.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroms is heavy on the wood with dark malt, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, grains, and notes of raisins. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Could have been a bit more full, but after a few recent bourbon 'infused' turds this one is actually quite pleasant.
