Description
At Moon Dog we love crafting bloody delicious beers that are fun and a little bit different. We've been doing it since 2010 at our rad brewery in the backstreets of inner Melbourne’s Abbotsford. Over the years we’ve grown a heap, adding our tropical brewery bar paradise, the ballroom oasis function space, and a freakin' big fancy production brewery to keep more delicious beers flowing. We’re a proudly independent, Australian owned craft brewery, still run by the same guys that started it all those years ago.

330ml can via Beer 52 January box. Pours orange amber with a beige head. Aroma: sweet, candied pineapple, lime, vanilla. Taste: moderate sweet & light bitter, creamy malts, candied pineapple, lime twist, but everything is overpowered by far too much vanilla. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Overly sweet milkshake bullshit.

Can: Poured a murky orange with a light red hue, head was whispery white. Aroma is very plummy, little wax. Taste is tart, plum, fruity, grain, dries the palate out.

330ml can @ 6.5% ABV, no mention of 'Beer DeLuxe': BB 1st Apr 2022. Drank at home on 16th Jan 2021. Hazy amber body, quickly fading off-white head. Aroma holds some lactose/cream esters and hop smells, taste is also lactose with a fruity hop bitterness. Some resinous/piney flavours from the hops too.

330ml can from Beer52. Eye - black with an extremely brief fizzy tanned head. Nose - caramel malts, coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Nice but not picking up cherry. Taste - chocolate and some faint cherries at the start, caramel malts then come in with a touch of vanilla, and a moderate bitter finish. Quite sweet throughout but not overdone for me. Palate - medium body, a touch syrupy, carbonation could be a touch softer. Overall - its quite tasty but it doesn't taste much like a Black Forest Gateau. In particular the cherry adjunct is just not pronounced enough. As a simple flavoured stout though its very nice with the chocolate, caramel and vanilla.

Can from Beer 52. Bit of a strange one in terms of aroma – sometimes I get lime, sometimes I get pine – but never the two together. Anyway, pours a golden amber with a small, transient off-white head. In the mouth, the hops hit the taste buds first, followed by the lime, then right at the end a little hit of vanilla. Finish is dry and quite bitter. Pretty drinkable for its strength. I liked it a lot better than I thought I would !

Rocky white head left a froth on an unclear amber coloured still body. Pine, malt & resin aroma. Medium bodied, sharp with a clean dry back. Pine, resin, malt, hoppy & pineapple tastes with an ice cream flavoured finish. Would be good without the ice cream flavours!

[33cl can from Beer52, at a stated ABV of 6.5%.] A bright amber pour with a ring of white head; aroma of pineapple and coconut; taste of lime and vanilla; with a rather sweet vanilla finish. Interesting, and quite drinkable.
