2003 Draught. Yes!! I love it. I get tired of all of these new super wowee double ultra IPAs. . . I like a sessionable IPA. 2004 draught. Yes. Good. Balanced.
Having had bottles of this twice now in blind tastings, I havent been as impressed. I actually got some yeasty, blandish, sourish type notes, almost buttery. Though the mouthfeel is still creamy and soothing and the nose expressive.

Dark amber coloured body with a nice tan head. Sweet aroma of pit fruit, raisins, cardboard and malt. Medium-bodied; Great hop/malt balance with flavours of toasted malt, caramel, nutmeg, pit fruits and a woodsy mustiness. Aftertaste clean, no harsh hoppy character-also showing a subtle spice. Overall, truly a treat (rare bottle around Washington), but lacking in so many ways! I sampled this from a 65 cL bottle purchased from R.F.D. in Washington, D.C. on 30-Decemeber-2003. Thanks Aaron for the go-ahead to find this beer!

Well well. My palate just dosent agree with the norm when it comes to stone. Easily my favorite beer of theirs. Awesome aroma of juicy, sweet/bitter hops. Light pine, big caramel malt. Aroma stays til the end of the bottle. Very hazy, golden with light burnt red tones. Small yellow head. Incredibly lush, creamy mouthfeel. Juicy hops meets big sugary sweet malt. The malt probably wins for dominance but in the end, a near perfect balance is achieved. The hops flavor does not bore me, the malt does not cloy and the alcohol is not overpowering. Great quality in moderation. Yes.

Thanks to TChrome for the trade. As if buying beer wasn't an enjoyable enough experience, doing it for a good cause makes it all the better! This is one of the more enjoyable Tripels I have had to boot. Pours a lightly cloudy and bright yellow-orange/apricot color with a medium thin white head. Thin and quick lacing. Aroma of citrus, banana and hops. Medium-bodied with a nice blend of citrus, pepper, coriander and apricot. The finish has a bit of alcohol kick to it, along with some fruit.

Orangey-amber colour. Chewy smelling - very Stone - with too much crystal/dark malt character. Woody, toasty, citrus-hoppy palate with caramel and a slight bit of alcohol.

Cheers to Kimchee for getting this rarity! Pale, bright yellow. Fruity aroma (apricot, peach, pear) with marshmallow. Sweet palate is fruity (pear, peach), vibrant textures and flowery esters. Well-hidden alcohol. Slightly tart in the finish, with lemony notes.

Copper colour with a thin white head. Strong hoppy aroma with a bit of alcohol and some pears. Medium to Heavy-bodied; Sweet taste with a mild fruit flavour and some complex spiceyness noticeable. Overall, decent but really not the best APA i've had. I had this bottle at the Winter Party at Oakes' place in Toronto, Canada on 05-December-2003. Many thanks go out to KimChee for bringing this one to the party as it turned out to be one of the best from the show!

Crystal clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of coriander seed, curacao and strong sugars. Medium to full-bodied; Sweet flavourful-fruity (peaches, pears, apricots and grapes) with some normal curacao and coriander seed. Aftertaste was sweet and clean-fairly nice. Very good for the style and fairly nice from Stone (Which always is NOT the case!). I had this bottle at the Winter Party at Oakes' place in Toronto, Canada on 05-December-2003. Many thanks to KimChee for bringing up this beer-one of the highlights from the night! Even though I only had a few centilitres of this to sample, I did take my time and make it a one hour (or so) sampling!

December 2003: Very nice resinous, floral hops aroma. In my mouth there is a marriage of hops and ,malts, with some citrus dancing around.... very good! 7-3-8-4-15

Double Dry Hopped version on tap at Oregon Brewer’s Fest, July 31 2011: An orange amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, pungent and fragrant floral hops, resinous, with a bit of catnip. In outh, a good biscuitty malt with very resinous pungent hops, mentol, coniferous, quite nice and challenging. 8-3-8-4-15

Orangey amber glow, slight haze. Firm lasting head. Notably floral hop aroma. Caramelized malts, toasty flavors almost Munichy. Well balanced hops in the palate, tingly, peppery and floral. Light warming finish. Just an outstanding pale ale, really.
