Description
Hornbeer is a farmhouse brewery founded in the beginning of 2008 by Gunhild and Jorgen Fogh Rasmussen. The first brewery was very small, brewing only 300 liter batches. But end of July 2008 the brewery burnt down to the ground. Now Gunhild and Jorgen had to start again from scratch. In January 2009 the new brewery started operations. Nowadays the production is around 2000 hl/year. Hornbeer is well known for a very different assortment. Hornbeer´s philosophy is that the beers should be distinctive but still very drinkable.

Bottle bought @ Kihoskh. Mild smoked flavour and aroma. Balanced. Not even close to as extreme as the text on the bottle implifies.

50cl bottle. Pours black with a giant large brown foam. Nose & taste is heavily roasted. Lots of bitter roasted coffee & cocoa. Smooth & slick palate. Would have liked the carbonation to be a lot lower - clearly overcarbonated. Very warm from alcohol. Bitter roasted & slightly sticky end! Good!

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost clear amber golden with a dense and creamy off-white head leaving laces. Full fat aroma hoppiness. Quite full-bodied with lots of sweet caramel malt, but also some not completely pleasant phenol accents and some spicy, herbal notes that combined with the sweetness gives the beer a cough syrup like medicinal character. Bitter finish with a distinct alcohol burn. 140608
