Description
Our organic orchard in the Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire, produces 15 varieties of apples. Our cider is made from hand graded apples, selecting only the best for juicing. The juice is then fermented and matured slowly over a number of months to give our ciders their distinct taste. Drinking our cider means you are assured that the apples are free from pesticides and herbicides and, that there are absolutely no added sulphites (unlike many other ciders).

Bottle from the brewer’s own stall at the Thame Food Festival. Honey coloured and as the name suggests, still. Medium-sweet apple juice flavour. Like all their products it lacks the tannic bite of traditional ciders- it tastes a little bland in fact, although a smoother mouthfeel is the payoff. Quite drinkable but unexciting- maybe an entry level cider to draw people away from the Magners and Bulmers of this world?

Bottle at the history of brewing event at Wycombe Museum. Honey coloured. Sweet and thin and watery and- oddly- slightly grainy. Light flavours of dessert apple and vanilla, but mainly just watery. Disappointing.

Bottle at the history of brewing event at Wycombe Museum. Interesting pale peachy-gold colour. Definitely dry, very dry in fact; almost crisp. Sharp eating apples come through with floral notes, a hint of ginger and- unfortunately- some plastic. Without the plastic this could have been a pleasant and unusual cider, but the plastic definitely takes it down a few notches.

A29 v25 c4 Bottle, from brewer’s own stall at the Thame Food Festival. Murky straw in hue. Oddly tastes much more like a cider than a perry although the producer assured me that it was made entirely with pears. Rough apple taste, a little sour vinegar, a little vanilla. Quite refreshing. Odd, but not bad.

Bottle picked up from Chiltern Brewery, consumed at home Sunday 5th October 2014. Pours almost peachy colour with hardly any bubbles as described its still. The aroma is sweet mushy apples cooking with a little dab of nutmeg, it is very much a dessert apple cider I think. Ok in mouth sweet apples, a little juicy apple bite but a bit thin and lacking some bite, needs a few proper cider apples or even some crab apples to add a more tannic bite. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

[Bottle from cidery’s own stand at the Thame Food Festival] Golden-brown in hue - oddly dark for a cider, it looks a bit like economy apple juice. It’s beautifully smooth for a cider, feels great in the mouth. Unfortunately it’s also rather bland - there’s a hint of apple and vanilla and that’s about it. Shame.
