Description
Two Towns Down is a brewing project founded by Sandy McKelvie.

Sandy started his brewing career in the Isle of Man before returning to his native Scotland to complete the Brewing and Distilling Degree at Heriot Watt University. In his third year he was also the in-house brewer at the Hanging Bat which included collabs with the likes of Six Degrees North.

Once the four year course was complete he took a brewing position at Fallen Brewing Co. before moving on to head up recipe development and barrel aging at Black Isle Brewing Co. Having recently relocated to 71 Brewing in Dundee, Sandy has taken the opportunity to launch his own project, showcasing innovative and cutting edge beers while still drawing inspiration from classic brewing philosophies.

Can from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - deep brown to black with a big foamy beige to tan head.
Nose - roast and maybe a bit of saline.
Taste - roast, salt and smoke. But much more, though gnarly.
Palate - medium bodied, chewy middle and roasty finish.
Overall - good, if gnarly!

29/11/2025. Can at the ITFC beer share. Bought direct from the brewery. 6.0% abv. Good pour. Very un-BIPA like. Very fruity. Lots of berry. Quite sour. Woody tobacco notes. BIPA’ness elements are totally hidden. More like a Flanders Red than a BIPA. Not as advertised or expected but did really like it.
