13/XII/22 - 50cl bottle @ Commotie (Gent), BB: n/a (2022-1742)
Deep dark purple brown to almost black beer, no head. Aroma: oxidized, lots of cherries, fruity, sweet impression, alcohol notes, honey. MF: no carbon, full body, cloying texture. Taste: very sweet sugary start, super fruity, lots and lots of cherries, very nice, vanilla notes, some marzipan, lactose, almonds. Aftertaste: boozy, sugary, more vanilla notes, honey, sugary, more cherries and almonds, very nice!

Meadvent Calendar 8. Very dark purple, looks thick. Smells strong, lots of black cherry, little bit of sharpness. Fairly light body, but sticky and lingering enough. Taste is odd. Sweet cherry and plenty of black pepper. Not sure it works, but it is fun!

Pours a very dark brown-to-black. Scent is very outspoken almond. Taste is full, sweet almond, mild roasty malts. Almond character (I assume from the cherry?) strongly overpowers - to the point I get little else, not even the actual cherries...

Pours a darker gold. Scent is soft, honey finish, mild herbal quality from the peppers. Taste is sharp, spicy, pepper heath takes the lead. Honey softens the palate. Quite balanced, yet remains fairly intense. Not bad. Not bad at all !

Pours a dark, clear red. Scent is full, complex (seems aged?) berries, due to the chestnut honey I suppose. Taste is full, complex, caramel, chestnut, berry, medium acidity. Medium intense sweetness (I thought this was a dry one?) quite lovely !

Pours clear, wattery yellow. Scent is fruity, raw honey, very rough. Taste is full, rough honey, mild spice character almost. Nice mead, even though not my preferred mead style. Barrel is fairly silent.

Pours almost black, scent is full, intense fruits, juicy to even syrupy. Taste is full, sweet, mild fruit acidity. Lovely and intense - as expected.

Pours very dark, almost black. Scent is roasty, full, gentle honey profile. Taste is sweet, very full, intense roast, imperial stout like. Lots of honey take over, quite lovely balance. Tad fruity, almost (red fruit)

Bottle shared. Deep ruby. Massive sour cherries, soft honey, a bit of almond, more cherries. Medium sweet and sour. Full body. Massive cherry bomb. Tasty.
