500ml bottle [as Odenwälder Märzen, 5.8% abv]. Opalescent, orange, golden colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, starchy, caramel malty aroma, hints of overripe pear. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally starchy, caramel malty, minimally fruity, hints of overripe pear, a minimally papery touch. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, indifferent palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Rather simple and monotonous - so-so; bonus point for nostalgia.

500ml bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with ruby shimmer and average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Slightly roasty, dark malty and sweet-ish, caramel malty aroma, hints of malt lozenge, a bready touch of pumpernickel. Taste is initially watery, slightly bitter, roasty dark malty and minimally bitter hoppy, more body in the middle part with additional caramel malty flavours, minimally metallic overtones. Watery texture, indifferent palate, medium, scattered, soft, mildly prickly carbonation. Simple, monotonous - meh!
