Hazy blond with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have soft floral and tropical fruit hop notes.

Light brown colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have some floral notes especially pink peppercorns and maybe some rosemary. Very smooth.

Hazy yellow colour with fluffy head. Aroma is hoppy with citrus peel. Flavour is similar with bitter peel. Also some slightly floral notes in the finsh. Fairly light bodied but very refreshing.

Bottle from Geers. Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Citrussy nose with light smokey notes. Taste is bitter, bit grainy, light sourish, smokey. Rather lively carbonation.

New Totem IPA, sampled at Wieze Bierfestival. Thin and loose, off-white, quickly dissipating head, misty golden robe with warmer peachy hue. Aroma of pink grapefruit flesh, lemongrass, almond, lime zest, soap, damp marihuana, passion fruit. Lush fruity onset, granadilla, mango and kiwi, touch pineapple, softish carbo, soapy and bit oily mouthfeel, cereally malt sweetish backbone, long aromatic and bittering hop finish worthy of the IPA status, very grapefruity, bit resinous and a tad piney with tropical fruit notes on the sides. Exemplary as expected.

IPL from Totem, so basically a bottom-fermented version of modern IPA. At Wieze Bierfestival, cheers to Klaas and Liesbeth. Lacing, snow white, moussy head, orange blonde robe, clear but turning cloudy with sediment - in other words unfiltered, not very common for IPL, or for lager in general. Aroma of pink grapefruit, mandarin, biscuit, pine needles, cedar essential oil, exotic peppers, mango. Clean, crisp fruitiness in the mouth, not very estery as is to be expected from the style, hints of dried mango and orange zest, softish carbo, slick and supple body, biscuity in its core, cereally. Long, aromatic hop finish, grapefruity, tropical fruits, floral in an exotic way, spicy bitterness way below but in an elegant manner. This may well be the very first IPL in Belgium and if anyone can do it with this amount of refinement and boldness, it must be Totem, whom I consider to be the most interesting brewery of Eastern Flanders.

Bottle. Hazy golden amber color, dense fine bright white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lightly spiced pine. Taste is resiny pine. Tasty.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 09/2018. Dorée/orange sur léger voile, col crémeux blanc-cassé. Arôme au nez fruité avec pas mal de notes tropicales mais modérées par l’ajout plus noble. Retrouve des effluves de grains d’épeautre avec un léger citron vert en rétro-nasal. Palais est centré sur un grains plaisant avec un caractère plus anglais qui garde cependant une petite touche pâle et caramélisé renforcé au gout par l’opposition des houblons. Fruité bien développé entre citornné, qcq agrumes et un noble plus EKG. Le profil des malts restent assez dominant apportant tout de même une petite sécheresse de find e bouche tout en conférant assez d’espace aux houblons.
