Description
It all started with a humble homebrew kit and the drive to make better beer. Tired of the same bland and dated choices everywhere, Air Force friends Eric Wallace and Dick Doore set out to make the kind of beer that excited them; beer they wanted to drink. A hobby quickly became an obsession and it wasn't long before Left Hand Brewing opened for business on January 22, 1994. Left Hand has steadily increased its production, making the Brewers Association’s Top 50 Craft Brewers list in 2012.

Raisins, rum and dark berries in the nose, following through into the taste profile. Some chocolate with balancing hints of cherries, hops and malt make this a very satisfying and well crafted imperial stout, even if the body is slightly lighter than most others of the ilk.

Bottle from Stefan: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, some booze. Not too boozy in the taste in spite of high abv. Sweetish. Body is on the lighter side. Bourbon is not overpowering. No real bitterness. Would have liked some more body to smooth this out.

An effort at being a traditional red Okfest. Aromas are caramel malt, wet grain and a little toast. Flavors are similar to nose and on the sweet side. Not as sweet as the last time that I had it. Going in the right direction for me and hope next time it's even less sweet.

Sweet but in a natural way. Touches of caramel and milk chocolate. Doesn't feel like a strong beer.
