Description
Since 1975, Boon Brewery has been owned and run by Frank Boon, one of the pioneers of the authentic lambic and gueuze revival. But the first signs of the brewery date back to 1680, as a farm-brewery and distillery in the village of Lembeek. In 1860 Louis Paul bought the brewery to brew only lambic and faro. From 1875, he began bottling gueuze lambic. In 1898, Pierre Troch bought the brewery. But after the economic crisis of 1927, it came into the hands of Joseph De Vits. His son, Rene is renowned for the production of soft and fine gueuze lambic. As Rene De Vits had no children, he sold the brewery to Frank Boon.

2023 bottle from Bierkiste. Unclear purple color with pink head. Aroma is big cherry skin, leather, dash of lime, intense. Taste is cherry juice upfront, minerals, comparably short finish. Sparkly bite, big bubbles. Tasty, fruity, and juicy!

330ml bottle bought from the Offie, Leicester and drunk at home. Brownish gold and clear with a quickly dissipating off-white head leaving a small ring. Light barnyards funk, earth tones. Caramel in the sweet taste, a touch of sour funk, harsh saccharine finish and aftertaste. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Dull and weird, not very bretty, but also sort of refreshing.

Rica

Barwa ciemno bursztynowa, lekko zamglone, piana biała, średnio obfita, średnio trwała.

W aromacie lekka dzikość i lekkie nuty owocowe.

Bottle. Color: Clear amber, white head. Aroma: Brett funk, malty, fruity esters. Taste: Rural Brett funk, maty, fruity stonefruit esters. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Light sweet, tart and bitter. Ok but I've had better Brett beers.

375mL bottle from Cave des Moines. Pours murky gold with a white head. Musty old wood, leather, and some funk on the nose. Flavour has plenty of old furniture, leather, some mildew, and tart stonefruit pits. The additional barrel aging has reduced the carbonation slightly, I think, but the funk is very nice and there is a very dry, woody character.

A small bottle, corked and caged, purchased from Beautiful Beers, for which many thanks, drunk at Dad’s place while home on holiday. 2021 vintage. Aroma: impressive, deep funk. Appearance: clear Ribena, flat. Palate: medium-bodied and rather astringent, average carbonation; finish is lingering and dry. Taste: very complex and well-balanced, wood, barnyard, pencil, cherries don't really come through. Remarkable beer though - for me, special occasions only.

A small bottle, corked and caged, purchased from Beautiful Beers, for which many thanks, drunk at Dad’s place while home on holiday. Aroma: very close to raspberry jam. Appearance: semi-opaque Ribena, minimal pink lacing. Palate: light-bodied and rather tart, quite lively carbonation; finish is long, quite dry, sweetly acidic. Taste: lightly-sweet, plenty of fruitiness, lambic flavours definitely take second place. Good drinking, I liked this one.

Bottle. Color: Clear copper, large lightly mocha head. Aroma: Dark malt, caramel, candy sugar. Taste: Candy sugar, caramel, malty with some floral hopbitterness backbone. Over moderate sweet, light bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Mwah... Definitely prefer the Geuze beers of this brewery. Nothing special this time...
