Description
Established in 2005 and bottling since 2008. Headed by Phil and brewed by Rob, we’re a small team brewing a wide range of beers in cask, keg, bottle and can. Along with a core offering we also have seasonal brews and a one off brew range called ‘New Tricks’. Experimental recipes are run through our small batch kit before trying them out on the main kit and releasing them to the masses. Some of these have proved so popular that they’ve graduated to our core range.

9th July 2017: had two pints while in Portabello, Scotland. It was so much better I had to re-score the beer. My first rating I stand by, but something has changed since then. Hand-pulled half-pint in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire. Pump clip called it a Blackcurrant Porter, and that is what I got. Semi-sour Blackcurrant aromas and flavours in a dark, almost black bodied brew. I quite liked it, but a half-pint was enough to be honest.

25th July 2016: cask half-pint in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates. Poured a very pale gold with a full and lasting white head. Weak aroma, nothing coming from the supposed heavy late hopping of Waimea: that hop does however impart a bitterness and slightly citrus flavour to the brew, finish is dry, aftertaste, bitter.

Cask half-pint on 25th July 2016 at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates. As the pump clip stated: this is a tawny coloured bitter, on top an off-white crown. Twiggy and woody, an ’old school’ bitter in every way with a malty front and a bitter finish: liked it a lot.

Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol 24/6/2016. Amber, with a decent, off-white, head. Sweetish, vaguely toasty malts, some hedgerow fruits, a touch of leafy hop and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 16/6/2016. Amber with a small, but tight, off-white, head. Citrus hops, a mixture of hedgerow and tropical fruits, biscuity malts, and a decently bitter finish. Good.

Handpull cask at the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Very dark brown. Nice creamy tan head and a lot of lacing. Strong liquorice scent with a suggestion of smoke. Sweetness in the initial taste, and there’s the promised rush of dark berry along with a caramel/vanilla note. Finishes more pronouncedly bitter. Sourish berry on the aftertaste. Very good!

Cask at NWAF, Derby, Thursday, 18th February 2016 Pours pale lemony gold with a lovely white head atop. Not too much on the nose. This is a jolly drinkable pale ale, a little furry hoppiness. Quite dry at the finish. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov12 3.4
