Shared by notalush. Unforunately, this was another cool sounding Shorts beer that just turns out very average. Pours dark brown with a fizzy head. Aroma is light booze and light bark/earth. Taste is a bit bland with light watery dark malts. Easy drinking and a well attenuated lager.
22oz bomber, Southampton snifter.

Thanks to hailsquishface for this one - dark brown beer with a ruby tint, and a fizzy, short-lived head - the oak is more apparent than the bourbon in the aroma, and some vanilla and moderate spiciness round things out - the schwarz character is pretty much gone from the aroma - the reverse is true on the flavor - the schwarz flavors are all quite present, and the barrel character actually takes a back seat - the roasty flavor of the beer is complimented fairly well by the bourbon flavor - however, the beer is quite thin, and an ashy bitterness develops as it warms that throws things off a bit - slightly doughy finish - this gets points for being quite subdued for a bourbon-aged beer, but aside from that, it’s still kind of a middle of the road beer.

Thanks to goldtwins for sharing - smells of rum, pecans, maple syrup, dough - smells like a Louisiana pastry shop - thick mouthfeel - maple syrup is strongest in the flavor, with some leafy bitter character and an alcohol burn - pecans and other nutty qualities - caramel and pastry-like sweetness - interesting, but it doesn’t come together as well as it could.

On tap at HopCat, Grand Rapids. Medium red-brown body, medium buff head. Aroma of berries, caramel, and sweet toasts. Earthy. Soft, biscuity, sweet body, tealike and leafy. Reminds me of bread pudding or raisin bread. Rather wispy and ephemeral, perhaps too sweet for the light heft.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Clearish red-brown body, medium buff head. Bready nose with dry caramels and herbal hops. Medium body with light bitterness, dominated by floral, herbal hops and bready malts. Not bad.

2008 MBG Winter Beer Fest. Opaque dark brown body, thin cream head. Dry stout with dominant roasted coffee notes, also dry chocolate. Unidimensional but a good palate-clearing beer at the Fest.

Madness@the Moose YEHA. Another bottle provided by yobdoog, thanks again Trev. I was really happy to get to try this beer and it really did stir up quiet a ruckus upon being opened. Aroma is full of oregano, celery, salt and other herbs. Cool, yet still beery. Taste is more straight up light sweet golden beer and finishes with a nice salt kick. Makes me want to enjoy this with a salad. Medium body with a hint of alcohol.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy, which gives it notes of grass and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of grass, grapefruit, and alcohol. The alcohol burns on the palate.
